Referring to the drawings 1 designates the main or lower casing which is provided intermediate its'endswith a longitudinally extending top 2, thereby forming two members which may be1 braced by means of a crossbar 8 secured to such members/by fastening devices 11 of' any "desired or conventional type.

By such means the casing members are detachably connected together.

The casing members may be rotated in any desired manner, and in order to illustrate a means for accomplishing this result," l have shown the upper .casing 23 as *havingv fixed thereto a gear 3K1 by means of aset screw 35. This gear 311: is inter-geared .in any desired inanner with the driving mechanism for the mixing machine, and since such connection is old and well-known in the art, l have deemed it unnecessarytoy illustrate and describe in detail such connection.
Theoperation of adjusting the blades and of assembling and taking apart the casing will be readily apparent to those skilled in` this art, and is as follows adjusting rods 22 and 18 will be moved in on their fulcrum, as is apparent.

The offset portion 19 of the adjusting rod 18 will then be removed from the pin 21 by springing said offset portion outwardly and the easing sections can then be taken apart by causing their relative rotation sutliciently to cause the pin 30 to move vout of the curved slot 31, whereupon by relative longitudinal movement of the casing sections, the'lower casing section can be removed. l
It will now be apparent that I have devised a novel and useful construction of a mixer blade, which embodies the features of advantage enumerated as desirable in `the statement of the invention andthe above description, and while I have, in the present instance, shown and described a preferred embodiment thereof which will give in practice satisfactory and reliable results, it is to be understood that the same is susceptible of modification in various particulars with# out departing from the spirit or scope of the invention or sacrificing any of its advantages.

A mixer blade, comprisinga lower casing, mixing members carriedthereby, a blade carried by said lower casingA and' operatively connected with `said mixing members ing having its inner end rounded andihaving its outer end substantially U-shape, anupper casing having its lower end adapted to enter the U-shaped portiony of the lower casing, said U-shaped portion having a slot therethrough, a pin fixed to said upper casing and adapted to entersaid slot, `aisecond pin` adapted to pass through said casing and in# terlock with said first pin,V blades carriedby said lower easing, a rod operatively connectediwith said blades and `guided in said lower casing, a rod longitudinally adjustable in said upper casing and connected `with said rst .rod,.an adjusting screw engaging said second rod and bearing against the upper Casing, and driving means operatively connected with said upper casing.
7. A miXer blade7 comprising a lower casing having its inner end rounded and provided with curved arms, curved blades having` intermediate their ends arms pivoted to said casing, the outer lower face of an arm being curved, then extending at a tangent and then merging into a curved face toward the upper end of a blade, links pivoted to said blades, a rod guided in said lower oasing and pivoted to said links, an upper oasing having its lower end received in said lower casing, and means to look said oasings together.
8. A mixer blade, comprising a supporting` member, blades mounted on opposite sides of said member' to have their lower ends travel inwardlyT of the forward end of said member when such blades are expanded or contracted, each blade having at all times a portion of its outer face substantially flush with the outer face of said member, and means to expand and contract said blades.
9. A mixer blade, comprising a suporting member, blades pivoted at the forward end of said member, each blade having at all times a portion oi' its outer face substantially flush with the outer face of said member, and means to effect the expansion and contraetion of the upper portions of said blades without causing their outer portions to eX- tend longitudinally beyond said member.
