ROBERT F. RUSSEL, OF HAZLETON, PENNSYLVANIA.
IMPROVEMENT IN BUCKLES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 124,514, dated March 12, 1872.
- view of the buckle holding a leather strap, as
when in use, showing the under side. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal section of Fig. 1 taken on the line w w.
Similar letters of reference indicate corre-l spondin g parts.
A represents a loop, made of sheet or hoop iron, or other suitable metal, doubled together, as seen in Fig. 2. B is a pin, made fast near one of the ends of the loop. C is a stop-lug, on the other end of the loop. D is a band, which slides on the loop. The lug C enters a slot-orifice in the band. In sliding back from the ring F, the slide is stopped and kept in position on the loop, as represented. The loop is doubled through the ring F, as seen in the drawing. The ring F may be of any form,
and the loop may take hold oi' any part of it, or be connected in any desired manner with the harness or other apparatus. Gis the strap to be fastened and adjusted by my improved buckle. |The strap is perforated with holes, H, which receive the pin B, for holding it in place, as seen in Fig. 2.
rIhe adjustment is made by pressing the end of the loop inward, thereby detachin g the stop O from the slide, and then slipping the slide from the loop, which allows the strap to be adjusted as may be desired. When `the strap has been adjusted, the slide is slipped back toward the ring and is caught by the stop-lug, as seen in the drawing. I do not limit or confine myself to the preciseforin or arrangement of the parts described, nor to any particular use or purpose for the buckle, but design it for all lthe purposes for which it may be adapted. i
Having thus described niyinvention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The spring A, doubledover ring F, and pro vided with pins B and G, that fasten respectively in the slide D and strap G, as described, t0 form an improved harness connection.
