To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, SAMUEL S. COLT, a citizen of the United States, residing at Orange, in the county of Essex and State of lflew Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Molding Apparatus; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to characters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification;
My present invention relates, generally, to improvements in concrete construction, and is in the nature, more particularly, of a novel form or cribbing and fixing devices, space-adjusting or spreading devices, and spanning members employed in conjunction therewith, all arranged and constructed to provide a novel forming or molding device which can be easily and quickly erected, is simple in its construction and operation, and the spanning member or members of which can be adjustably secured or fixed with relation to the retaining members, andwhen thus secured or fixed, the mold-boards or section which often vary in thickness being adapted to be brought into proper alinement, so that the wall of concrete or the like which is to be formed will have a perfectly smooth face or faces, when finished.
The present invention, therefore, has for its principal object the production of a simple and effective device for use as a form, adjustable fixing means to be used in connection with the board-retaining members of the mold and the spanning members therefor, all with a view of properly fixing the spanning members in their adjusted positions with relation to the retaining members, and permitting also of proper adjustments of the retaining members so as to properly aline the moldboards or sections to produce a smooth faced wall or structure. The invention has for its further object to provide a novel spanning member-retaining means, which not merely may be operated for fixing or securing the spanning members in their adjustably fixed relations to the retaining members, but also permits of the oppositely located-or placed retaining.

Other objects of the present invention not at this time more particularly enumerated will be clearly understood from the followin g detailed description of the present invention.
- lVith the various objects of the present invention in view, the said invention'consists, primarily, in the novel form for use in producing walls, or other structures of concrete or similar materials, as hereinafter set forth; and, the invention consists, furthermore, in the novel arrangements and combinations of the several devices and parts, as wellas in the details of the construction of the said devices and parts, all of which will be more fully described in the following specification and then finally embodied in the clauses of the claims which are appended to and which form an essential part of the said specifica tion.
The invention is clearly illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a view of the molding form, the spanning members, the adjustable fixing devices, the various devices being represented in top or plan view, and an arrangement of vertically disposed retaining members, the latter, however, being represented in cross-section.
Fig. 2 is a transverse sectional representation of two of the spanning members, a vertical sectional representation of a fragmentary portion of one of the retaining members, and a side view of one of the spanning member-adjusting and fixing means, said section being represented as taken on line 22 in said Fig. 1, looking in the direction of the arrow as, but made on an enlarged scale; and Fig. 3 is a horizontalsection of the parts represented in said Fig. 2, said section being taken on line 33 in said Fig. 2.

Similar characters of reference are em-v ployed in all of the said above described views, to indicate corresponding parts.
Referring now to the said ligures ot' the drawings, the reference-character 1 indicates a series of suitable uprights, which are preferably of rectangular cross section and may be of any desired lengths. These uprights which are usually made of wood, and are generally known in the building trade, as two by tours, are suitably disposed in their vertical. positions by means of any usual bracing or in any other suitable manner, at points desirably distant apart upon the. inner side of th concrete wall or structu to be produced. The referencecharacter 2 indicates a series of other uprights, also preferably made of wood, and known as two by fours, although both the rights 1 and 2 may be of any other suit- 1 le cross-section, the said uprights 2 being placed in their vertical positions opposite the uprights 1 upon the outer side of the con-' crete wall or structure which is to be built.
In starting to buill the wall or structure of concrete or other similar material, the lower end-portions of the several retaining members or uprights 1 and 2 are placed so that they willrest upon the ground, or other suitable formation, the said uprights 1 and 2 being suitably braced or otherwise secured in position so as to be plumb, or substantially so, as to their vertical alinement. The arrangement of the said retaining mem bers or uprights 1 and 2 is such that prior to the filling-in or pouring operation of the concrete or other similar material the'i'nold or torm- liioards 3 and 1 can be placed against the respective uprights 1 and :2, substantially as indicated in Fig. 1 of the drawings. Furthermore, after thus spacing and setting the said posts or uprights 1 and 2, each pair or oppositely placed posts or uprights is suitably lixed by means of the fixing devices shown in the upper portion of Fig. 3 of my former Pat nt No. 1,217,116, or the fixing ClQVlQGS shown in Fig. 1 of my former Pat ent 1,227,041;
Lateral bracing, as well as further plumbing of the said vertical posts or uprights 1 and 2, is produced by means or suitably formed spanning members 0 and 5, prefer ably longplatelike pieces or metal, wood, or other suitable material, and suitable adjustably fixed clamping elements, generally designated by the reference- characters 7 and 8, which are adapted to be brought into positirely clamped relation with the respective spanning members 5 and 6 and into fixed relation, after proper adjustment with the respective retaining members or uprights 1 and 2. The said elements 7 and 8, as will be seen from an inspection of said rig. 1 of the drawings, are fixed to said posts or uprights 1 and 2 by a suitable securing means, as will be presently more fully stated, and are usually used with each alternately disposed pairs posts or uprights 1 and 2, the int-ermediately placed posts or uprights, as and 10, see 1, having employed in connection therewith suitably formed push or sustaining elements, as 11 and 12.
Gnc means for adjusting the vertical retaining members or uprights, after they have been suitably alined so as to be plumb, and to provide a wall or structure of the desired width, consists of the spanning-member engaging or clamping devices generally des ignated by the reference- characters 18 and 14;, adapted to be clamped upon the respective spanning elements or bars 5 and 6, and being adjustably connected by means of a spacing or tie-rod, as 15.
Each clamping element 7, as will be seen more especially from an inspection of Fig. e or the drawings, consists, essentially of a lagscrew or bolt, of suitable length, comprising a main shank or body 16 formed at one end with a screw-threaded part- 17 adapted to be screwed into the upright or post 1, and provided upon its opposite end with a head, as 18, or other suitable means for turning the said shank or body 16 and screwing its end-portion 17 into the said upright or post 1. Movably disposed upon the said main body or shank are a pair or perforated disks or plates, as 19 and 20, of vany suitable construction, said disks or plates being respectively provided with any desired arrangement of supporting or guiding lugs or projections, as 21 and 22, between which the edge-portions ot' the spanning members 5, 5, may be disposed as shown. Upon the screw-- threaded portion 1? of the said lagscrew is an adjusting nut, as 23, and a binding or tightening nut 2% which can be screwed down upon a washer so as to tightly and securely fix said washer against the upright or post 1 In order to secure these various parts in their assembled relation, the disks or plates 19 and 20 are disposed upon the opposite edges of the spanning menn berso and the la screw being rotatably disposed in the disks or plates 19 and 20, well as in the washer 25, its screw-threaded end-portion is screwed into the upright or post 1, so as to locate the spanning members 5the desired distance from the outer face of the said upright or post; The binding nut 24: is thereupon screwed down tightly upon the washer so as to fin the ag-screw against turning, and similarly the adjusting nut 23 is screwed down upon the disk or plate 20, whereby the two disks or plates 19 and 20 are brought into positively clamped relation with the spanning members a, as will be clearly evident,
Referring now to the fifiljllStlble clamping members 8 herein-above mentioned, said devices are more clearly illustrated in Figs. 2 and 3 of the d *awinge, and each device or member 8 consists essentially of a lag-screw or bolt, of suitable length, comprising a main shank or bod 26 formed at one end with a screw-threaded part 27 adapted to be screwed into the upright or post 2, and provided upon its opposite end with a head, as 28, or other suitable means for turning the said shank or body 26 and screwing its end-portion 27 into the uprightor post 2, Filovabiy disposed upon said main body or shank 25 are a pair of perforated disks or plates, as '2) and 80, of any suitable construction, said disks or plates being respectively provided with any suitable and desired arrangement of supporting or guiding lugs, as 31 and 32, between which the edge-portions of the spanning members 6, 6, may be disposed, as shown. Upon its outer face, one of said disks or plates, as 29, is provided with a suitable arrangement of key or wedge-guiding lugs or projections, as 33 and 3%, which are preferably rounded, as Loosely disposed upon the screwthreaded portion of said lag-screw orbolt is a perforated plate, disk or washer, as 36, and disposed upon the respective lugs or projections and 32k and movably disposed upon the plate, disk or washer 36 are suitable keys or wedges, as 37 and 38, each key or wedge being preferably longitudinally grcoied or chamieled, as at 39, for the proper guidance of the said keys or wedges between said lugs or projections and the face of said plate, disk or washer 36 when driving said keys or wedges into position, as will be clearly evident. In order to secure these various parts in their assembled relation, the disks or plates 29 and 30 are disposed upon the opposite edges of the span 'i'iing member 6 and the lag-screw or bolt being rotatably disposed in the said disk or plates 29 and 30, as well as in the washer 36, its screw-threaded end-portion is screwed into the upright or post 2 for the proper adjustmcnt of the latter. The keys or wedges 1 '7 and 38 are thereupon driven home, whereby the several devices and parts will be securely held and retained in their adj ustably fixed relation, as will be clearly evident. To prevent any accidental displacement or loosening of the said keys or wedges, each key or wedge maybe provided with a hole or perit'oration, as lO, for the reception of a nail or pin ll which is driven into the post or upright so as to hold the key or wedge in its secured position.
Coming now to the previously-mentioned means for adjusting the vertical retaining members, uprights or posts 1 and 2, after they have been suitably alined so as to be plumb, and'also, whenever desired, to bring the oppositely placed post or uprights farther apart or closer together, according to the thickness of the wall which is to be formed, each clamping device 13 comprises a pair of perforated disks or plates, as 4:2 and l3, said disks or plates being respectively provided with a suitable arrangement of supporting or guiding lugs or projections, as i l and Q5, between which the edge-portions of the said spanning members 5, 5, may be disposed. The previously-mentioned spacing or tie-rod 15, as will be seen from an inspection of Fig. 1, is screwthreaded upon its end-portion, as at &6, and movably disposed upon said screw-threaded end-portion at are a pair of tightening nuts 47 and 1 8 for securely bringing said plates or disks 4:2 and into their clamped relation with the spanning members 5, as will be clearly understood. The said spacing or tie-rods extend laterally across the mold form provided by the various uprights and the form-boards 3 and -l, with their endportions i9 extending between the spanning members 6, 6, and upon which endportions are adjustably disposed the clampdevices 1%. Each device 14 consists, essentially, of a pair of plates being respectively provided with a suitable arrangement of supporting or guiding lugs or projections, as 52 and 53, between which the edgeport-ions of the said spanning members 6, are disposed substantially as shown in i and 5 of the drawings. The respective disks or plates 50 and 51 are also provided with laterally extending tubular hubs, as 536i, and set-screws 55 for securing-the said disks or plates 50 and 51 in their adjusted positions upon the portion i0 of the rod 15, and also retaining the said disk or plates 50 and 51 in their clamped relation with the spanning members Having made the various foregoing adjustments so as to bring thesaid retaining members or uprights 2 into their proper vertical alinement, in order to properly adjust or spread the said uprights or posts 2, laterally with relation to the oppositely located uprights or posts 1, according to the desired \vidthof the mold-form to be produced between the mold-boards or sections 3 and at, the said set-screws 55 are slightly loosened, to permit of the proper adjustment of the re spective clamping devices l l upon the endportions it) of the respective rods 15, whereby the spanning meinl' ers 6 and the uprights or posts clamped to said'spanning members may be moved in either direction for lateral adjustment, as will be clearly understood. After such lateral adjustments have been made, the said set-screws 55 are once more tightened down upon the rods 15, with the disks or plates 50 and 51 in their clamped relation with the spanning members 6, and
the various devices and the said parts or uprights thus being maintained in their properly iiXed relation.
Pouring of the concrete, or other similar material, into the mold-form, which is gradually built up, by placing mold-sections or boards, edge to edge, against the inner sur faces of the alined uprights or posts 1 and the uprights or posts 2, according to the height desired, can now he proceeded with, as will be clearly evident.
To prevent outward bulging of the various boards 3 and i during the pouring oper ation, posts or uprights 9 and 10 may be disposed against the said boards 3 and e, intermediate of the said posts or uprights 1 and the said posts or uprights 2, and between the said posts or uprights l and the spanning members 5 i place the previously 111611 tioned sustaining elements 11, and between the said posts or uprights 2 and the spanning members 6 I place the sustaining elements 12.
Each push or sustaining element 11 consists essentially of a screw-threaded bolt 56 provided with a head 57 and a binding or tightening nut adjustably disposed upon the screw-threaded shank of the said bolt. Loosely mounted upon the said bolt, between its head 5'? and said nut 58, are a pair of perforated clamping disks or plates, as 59 and 60, of any suitable construction, said disks or plates being respectively provided with any desired arrangement of supporting lugs or projections, as 61 and 62 between which the edge-portions of the spanning members 5, 5, may also be disgosed, as shown in Fig. 1 of the drawings. Upon the screwthreaded end portion of each bolt, so as to be capable of adjustment thereon is a perforated or other suitable disk-like element 63 formed with an internally screw-threaded nut-shaped member or portion or, which may be properly turned upon the end of the bolt, after the disks or plates 59 and 60 have been secured in their clamped and fixed positions with relation to the spanning members 5, so. as to push or force the upright or post 9 against the mold-boards or sections 3 for their proper alinement and to prevent their outward bulging.
In lieu of the sustaining elements 11, l employ in connection with the spanning members 6 and the uprights or posts 2, l employ the sustaining elements 12, each element 12 consisting essentially of a disk or plate 65 formed upon one side with a suitable arrangement of supporting lugs or projections, as 66 for embracing the edges of the spanning members 6, and formed upon its opposite face with an arrangement or keyguiding and retaining lugs or projections 6'7, between which. and a plate or washer 68, resting against the upright or post 10, are
driven keys or wedges 69, preferably of the construction and in the manner heretofore set forth in connection with the devices 8, for pushin or forcing the uprights or posts 10 against the moldboards or sections i, for the proper alinement of the said boards or sections, and to prevent their bulging outwardly during the pouring operation.
From the foregoing description it will be seen, that I have produced a very simple and operative construction of cribbing or moldi orm for forming therein a wall, or for producing any other desired stri'icture of concr e or similar material, the form being readily capable of adjustment, alinement and variation, so as to be able to produce with the same devices and parts, forms and walls of any desired widths, the cribbing or form being easily and quickly erected and readily adjusted; and, at the same time, the cribbing or form is just as quickly knocked down or dismantled when the wall or other structure has been completed, to be stored away for future use in the erection of an other wall or structure.
I am fully aware that changes may be made in the general arrangements and combinations or" the various devices and parts, as well in the details of the construction of the said parts, without departing from toe scope of the present invention as set forth in the foregoing specification and as defined in the clauses oi the claim which are appended to the said specification. deuce, i do not limit my present invention 0 the exact arrangements and combinaions or the several devices and parts as described in the foregoing specification, nor do I confine myself to the exact details of the c nstruction of the said parts as illusrated in the accompanying drawings.

A ln1ock-down form or cribbing for use in the erection of concrete and similar structures, comprising retaining members, spanning members, clamping devices connected with said spanning devices, a means of connection between each clamping device and some of said retaining members for adjustabiy fixing the spanning members with relation to said retaining members, and push-elements connected with said spanning elements and in engagement with others of said retaining members.
A ln1ock-down form orcribbing for use in the erection of concrete and similar structures, comprising oppositely located retaining members, spanning members, clamping devices connected with said spanning devices, a means. of connection between each clamping device and each retaining member for adjustably fining the spanning members with relation to said retaining members, and a means of adjustment connected with the spanning members of the oppositely located retaining members for spacing and laterally adjusting said oppositely located retaining members.
3. A knock-down form or cribbing for use in the erection oi concrete and similar structures, comprising oppositely located retaining members, spanning members, clamping devices connected with said spanning devices, a means of connection between each clamping device and each retaining member for adjustably fixing the spanning members with relation to said retaining members, and a means of adjustment connected with the spanning members of the oppositely located retaining members for spacing and laterally adjusting said oppositely located retaining members, consisting of a tie-rod having a screw-threaded end-portion, clamping disks mounted upon said screw-threaded end-portion, and adjusting nuts upon said screw-threaded end-portion for clamping said disks in position against the spanning members for one set of said retaining members, clamping disks provided with hubs mounted upon the other end-portion of said tie-rod, and set-screws connected with said hubs for securing said last-mentioned disks in their adjusted positions upon said rod and in clamped relation against the spanning members of the other set of retaining members.

means "for securing said disks in clamped relation upon the, spanning members for adjustably fixing the spanning members with relation to said retaining members, consisting of tightening nuts and a washer mounted upon some of said lag-screws, and a means of adjustment connected with the spanning members of the oppositely located retaining members for spacing and laterally adjusting said oppositely located retaining members.
7. A knock-clown form or cribbing for use in the erection of concrete and similar structures, comprising oppositely located retaining members, spanning members, lag-screws having their screw-threaded ends screwed into the respective retaining members, clamping disks mounted upon said lag-screws, spanning-members holding guide-lugs eX- tending from said clamping disks, means for securing said disks in clamped relation upon the spanning members for adjustably fixing the spanning members with relation. to said retaining members, consisting of. tightening nuts and a washer mounted upon some ofsaid lag-screws, and a means of adjustment connected with the spanning members of the oppositely located retaining members for spacing and laterally adjusting said oppositely located retaining members, consisting of a tie rod having a screwthreaded end-portion, clamping disks mounted upon said screw-threaded end-portion, and adjusting nuts upon said screw-threaded end portion for clamping said disks in position against the spanning members of one set or" said retaining members, clamping disks provided with hubs mounted upon the other end-portion of said tie-rod, and setscrews connected with said hubs for securing said last-mentioned disks in their adjusted positions upon said rod and in clamped relation against the spanning members of the other set of retaining members.
8 A knock-clown form or cribbing for use in the erection of concrete and similar structures, comprising oppositelylocated retaining members, spanning members, lagscrews having their screw-threaded ends screwed into the respective retaining mem bers, clamping disks mounted upon said lagscrews, scans for securing said disks in clamped relation upon the said spanning members for adjustably fixing the spanning members with relation to said retaining members, and a means of adjustment connected with the spanning members of the oppositely located retaining members for spacing and laterally adjusting said oppositely located retaining members, consisting of tie-rod having a screw-threaded endportion, clamping disks mounted upon said screw-threaded end portion, spanning-member holding guide-lugs extending from said clamping disks, and clamping nuts upon said screw-threaded end-portion for clamp ing said disks in position against the spanning members of one set of said retaining members, clamping disks provided with hubs mounted upon the other end-portion of said tie-rod, spanning-member holding guide-lugs extending from said last-mentioned clamping disks, and set-screivs connected with the hub of said last-mentioned clamping disks for securing said disks in their adjusted posit-ions upon said rod and in clamped relation against the spanning members of the other set of retaining members.
9. A knock-down form or cribbing for use in the erection of concrete and similar structures, comprising oppositely located retaining members, spanning members, lagscrews having their screw-threaded ends screwed into the respective retaining mem hers, clamping disks mounted upon said lagscrews, spanning-meniber holding guidelugs extending from said clamping disks, means for securing said disks in clamped relation upon the spanning members for adjustably fixing the spanning members with relation to said retaining members, consisting of tightening nuts and a washer mounted upon some of said lag-screws.
16. A luiock-doivn form or cribbing for use in the erection of concret and similar structures, comprising oppositely located retaining members, spanning members, lagscrews having their screw-threaded ends screwed into the respective retaining mem bers, clamping disks mounted upon said lagscrews, spanninganember holding guidelugs extending from said clamping disks, means for securing said disks in clamped re lat-ion upon the spanning members for adjustably fixing the spanning members with relation to said retaining members, consistingiof tightening nuts and a washer mounted upon some of said lag-screws, and a means of adjustment connected with the spanning members of the oppositely located retaining members for spacing and laterally adjusting said oppositely located retaining members.
11. A knock-down form or cribbing for use in the erection of concrete and similar structures, comprising oppositely located retaining members, spanning members, lagscrews having their screw-threaded ends screwed into the respective retaining members, clamping disks mounted upon said lagscrews, spanning member holding guide-lugs extending from said clamping disks, means for securing said disks in cramped relation upon the spannin members for adjustably fixing the spanning members with relation to said retaining members, consisting of tightening nuts a a washer mounted upon nine of said lag-,ci and a men s of adjustment connected wnh the spanning inembers of the oppositely located, retaining members for spacing and laterally adjusting said oppositely located retaining men hers consisting of a tie-rod having a screw-threaded end-portion, clamping di ks mounted upon said screw-threaded end-pen tion, and adjusting nuts upon said screwthreaded end-portion for clamping said disks in position against the spanning members oi: one set of said retaining i embers, clamping disks provided with hubs mounted upon the other end-portion or said tie-rod, and setscrews connected with said hubs for securing said last-mentioned disks in their ad justed positions upon said rod and in clamped relation against the spanning menr bers of the other set of retaining members.
12. It knock-down form or cribbing for use in. the erection of concrete and similar structures, comprising oppositely located retaining members, spanning members, lagscrews having their screw-threaded ends screwed into the respective retaining menr bers, clamping disks mounted upon said lagscrews, spanning-member holding guidelugs extending from said clamping disk means for securing said disks in clamped re lation upon the spain'iing members for ad justably fixing the spanning members with relation to said retaining members, consisting of tightening nuts and a washer mount ed upon some of said lagscrews, and a means of adjustment connected with the spanning members of the oppositely located retaining members for spacing and laterally adjusting said oppositely located retaining members, consisting of a tie-rod having a screw-threaded end-portion, clamping disl mounted upon said screw-threaded end-portion, spanning member holding guide-lugs extending from said clamping disks, and clamping nuts upon said screwthreaded end-portion for clamping said disks in position against the spanning members of one set of said retaining members, clamping disks provided with hubs mounted upon the other end-portion of said tie-rod,spanningmember holding guidelugs extending from said last-mentioned clamping disks, and setscrews connected with the hubs of said lastmentioned clamping disks for securing said disks in their adjusted positions upon said rod and in clamped relation against the spanning members of the other set of re ta inin g members.

A knock-down form or cribbing for use in the erection of concrete and similar structures, comprising oppositely located rctaining members, spanning members, lagscrews having their screw-threaded ends screwed into the respective retaining members, clamping disks mounted upon said lag-screws, spanning-member holding guidelugs extending from said clamping disks, means for securing said disks in clamped relation upon the spanning members for adjustably fixing the spanning members with relation to said retaining members, consisting of a washer mounted upon some of said lag-screws, key-receiving and guiding lugs extending from some of said clamping disks and wedge-shaped keys mounted between said receiving and guiding lugs and said washer.

A knock-down form or cribbing for use in the erection of concrete and similar structures, comprising oppositely located retaining members, spanning members, lagscrews having their screw-threaded ends screwed into the respective retaining members, clamping disks mounted upon said lag screms, spanning-member holding guidelugs extending from said clamping disks, means for securing said disks in clamped relation upon the spanning members for adjustably fixing the spanning members with relation to said retaining members, consisting of a washer mounted upon some of said lag-screws, key-receiving and guiding lugs extending from some of said clamping disks, and wedge-shaped keys mounted between said receiving and guiding lugs and said washer, and a means of adjustment connected with the spanning members of the oppositely located retaining members for spacing and laterally adjusting said oppositely located retaining members, consisting of a tie-rod having a screw-threaded endportion, clamping disks mounted upon said screw-threaded end-portion, and adjusting nuts upon said ecrew-threaded end-portion for clamping said disks in position against the spanning members of one set of said retaining members, clamping disks provided 'ith hubs mounted upon the other end-portionot said tie-rod, and set-screws connected with said hubs for securing said lastmentioned disks in their adjusted positions upon said rod and in clamped relation against the spanning members of the other set of retaining members. 7 v

A knock-lown form or cribbing for use in the erection of concrete and similar structures, comprising oppositely located retaining members, spanning members, lagscrews having their screw-threaded ends screwed into the respective retaining members, clamping disks mounted upon said lag-screws, spanning-member holding guidelugs extending from said clamping disks, means for securing said disks in clamped relation upon the spanning members for adjustahly fixing the spanning members with relation to said retaining members, consistof a washer mounted upon some of said lag-screws, key-recei'ing and guiding lugs extending from some of said clamping disks, and wedge-shaped keys mounted between said receiving and guiding lugs and said washer, and a me us of adjustment connected with the spanning members of the oppositely located retaining members for spacing and laterally adjusting said oppositely located retaining members, consisting of a tie-rod having a screw-threaded end-portion, clamping oisks mounted upon said screw-threaded end-portion, spanning-member holding guide-lugs extending from said clamping disks, and clamping nuts upon said screw-threaded end-portion for clamping said disks in position against the spanning members of one set of said retaining members, clamping disks provided with hubs mounted upon the other end-portion of said tierod, spanning-member holding guidelugs extending from said last-mentioned clamping disks, and set-screws connected with the hubs of said last-mentioned clamping disks for securing said disks in their adjusted positions upon said rod and in clamped relation against the spanning members of the other set of retaining members.
17. in combination with a retaining member of a knock-down form or cribbing and a spannin member, a means of adjustable connection bet een said retaining member and the spanning member, consisting of a lag-screw screwed into said retaining member, a pair of clamping disks mounted upon said lag-screw, and a pair of tightening nuts also mounted upon said lag-screw.

In combination with a retaining member of a knock-down form or cribbing and aspanni member, a means or adjustable connection between said retaining member and the spanningmember,consistingoaf a lags rew screwed into saidu .iaining member, a pair of la nping disks mounted upon said lagscrew, spaiming-member supporting guidelugs extending from said clamping disks, and means for bringing said clamping disks into clamped relation with said spanning member.
19. in combination with a retaining member of a knock-down form or cribbing and a spanning member, a means of adjustable connection between said retaining member and the spanning member, consisting of a lag-screw screwed into said retaining member, a pair of clamping disks mounted upon said lag-screw, spanning-member supporting guide-lugs extending from said clamp ing disks, and a pair of tightening nut-s also mounted upon said lag-screw for adjustably fixing said retaining member with relation to said spanning member.
20. in combination with a retaining menr ber of a knockdown form or cribbing and a spanning member, a means of adjustable connection between said retaining member and the spanning member, consisting of a lag-screw screwed into said retaining memher, a pair of clamping disks mounted upon said lag-screw, and a wedge-shaped key between one of said disks and the retaining member.

25. in combination ith a retaining memher of a knock-down form or cribbing and a spanning member, a clamping disk provided upon one of its faces with spanningmember supporting guide-lugs and upon its other face with a key-retaining and guiding lug, and channeled wedge-shaped key mounted upon said key-retaining guiding lug.
26. A knock-down form or cribbing for use in the erection of concrete and similar structures, comprising retaining members, spanning members, means for attaching said spanning members, and push-members connected with said spanning members and in engagement with others of said retaining members.

A knockdown form or cribbing for use in the erection of concrete and similar structures, comprising retaining members, spanning members, means for attaching said spanning members to some of said retaining members, and push-members connected with said spanning members and in engagement with others of said retaining members, each push-member consisting of a screwthreaded bolt, a tightening nut upon said bolt. and clamping plates mounted uponsaid bolt between the head thereof and the said nut upon the bolt.
28. A knock-down form or cribbing for use in the erection of concrete and similar structures, comprising retaining members, spanning members, means for attaching said members to some oi. said retaining members, and push-members connected with,
said spanning members and in engagement with others of said retaining members, each pushsmember consisting of a screw-threaded bolt, a tightening nut upon said bolt, clamping plates mounted upon said bolt between the head thereof and the said nut upon the bolt and a disk-shaped member mounted upon the screw-threaded end-portion of said bolt, said member being formed with an internally screw-threaded nutshaped portion for adjustment of said diskshaped member upon the said screw-threaded end-portion of said bolt.
