Figure 1 is a longitudinal sectional view;
Fig.2 is a View similar to Fig. 1, illustrating the brush locked in the casing for active use; and s Fig. 3 is a view of the brush removed from the casing, showing the brush head or bristles removed.
Referring more particularly to the accompanying drawing, in which like characters of reference refer to corresponding parts in the several views, the brush generally is denoted by the reference character 5 embodying a hollow cylindrical casing 6 which may be constructed of any desired material and having formed contiguous with the lower end thereof an integrally bent annular flange 7 presenting the lower end of the casing with a circular opening 8, the purpose of which will be hereinafter more fully set forth. derst'ood that this plunger 19 may be constructed of any material, but preferably consists of a rubber disk. A boss 21 is threadedly mounted on the extreme inner end of the plunger rod 9 and is formed with an exteriorly threaded sleeve 22 and a head 23. Mounted upon the collar 22 of the boss is a liquid feeding plunger 24 abutting with the inner face of the collar 23 and having its angular lip 25 frictionally engaging with the inner circumference of the casing. This feed plunger 24 is retained upon the boss the casing and engageable in the circumferential groove 32 of'the-clamp 16.
Assuming that the brush is folded or inserted within the casing when not in use,
better shown in Fig. 1 of the drawing, and it is desired to use said brush, the operator by inserting his fingers in the opening 8 of the casing will move the plunger in a direction toward the open end 27 of the casing tadvancing the brush head 15 out of said casing,
the locking band 28 is then slightly revolved to throw the locking dog 29 through the opening 31 and within the concentric groove 32 of the clamp. The brush inthis form is thence presented foruse. In'order to s up- -ply a 'suflicientquantity of the liquid shaving 1 dition at all times.
soap, contained between the confronting faces of the fixed and movable plungers, rotation is imparted to the casing 6 which *forces liquidthrough the feed passage 12,
and discharges the same within the bristles or brush heads 15. After this operation, the moistening of the brush will produce a shaving lather to beapplied to the face of the user.
After the completion of this operation and the use of the brush is no longer de sired, the releasing of the gage or dog 29 and the striking of the lower end of the casing against the palm'of'the hand of the operato those skilled in the art towhich the invention relates, and while Ihave described 1 the principles of operation of the invention,
together with the device which I now con sider to .be the best embodiment thereof, I desire to have'it understood that the device shown is merely illustrative, and that such changes may be made when desired as are withinthe scope of the claims appended thereto.
1. A device of the class described embodying a casing adapted to contain a quantity of fluid, a plunger rod mounted in said. casing for sliding movement having an exteriorly threadedportion, a nozzle formed at one end. of the rod and having a feed passage, a brush head, a clamp for securing the brush head to said nozzle, and a plunger mounted on the threaded portion of the plunger rod and frictionally engaging with the inner circumference of the casing and operable upon rotation of the casing to discharge the fluid therein through the feed passage of the nozzle and'into the brush head. I
2. A device of the character set forth,
'comprising'a casing adapted to contain a quantity of liquid, a brush slidably mountedwithin said casing, a plunger rod connected with the'brush and provided with an opening, a plunger connected on'said boss, and a'lockmg vasher threadedly mounted SIDNEYWVQB. RENOUF. 1
