IMPROVEMENT IN PRUNlNG-SHEARS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 124,455, dated March 12, 1872.

Figure l is a side view of an instrument embodying my improvement. Figs. 2 and 3 are detached views of the movable and stationary blades A and O, with connection B of blade A. Fig. 4 is the screw that connects the blades.
D, Fig. l, is the handle or pole, of any desired length, into which the stationary blade (3 is driven. A is the movable blade, turning on the screw H. F is the pitman, of length to suit the pole D, connecting the blade A and lever E. I is the fulcrum or pivot upon'which the end of lever E turns, and connects the same to the handle B.
It is obvious that, by pressing downward on thelever E, the edge of the blade A will be drawn toward the edge of the stationary blade 0 with a drawing out in proportion as the edge of the blade A is made nearer the periphery of the circle having H as the center, with the end of the blade P touching its circumference.
Claim.
I claim- The construction of blade O in such manner that pivot H is removed to one side, the limb resting directly over the center of the pole, to prevent the same from springing, the projecting point of the blade 0 colliding with the top of pitman F, to prevent the opening of blade A, for the reception oflimbs beyond its strength to cut, the whole arranged as described.
