ALEXANDER HAMILTON FAIZINGER, 0F NEW YORK, N. 'Y. l
IMPROVEMENT IN MUClLAGE-HOLDERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No.124,429, dated March 12, 1872.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ALEXANDER HAMIL- TON FATZINGER., of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in a Mucilage or Gumming Apparatus; land I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying' drawing forming part of this specification.
This invention relates to a mucilage or gummin g apparatus, for gummingnewspaper-Wrappers, envelopes, &c. It consists of a box so con structed as to contain a fountain-bottle, with a trough to contain rnncilage or liquid for like purpose, together with a round brush, which revolves by turning a crank, constructed and arranged as hereinafter' more fully described.
In the drawing accompanying this specification, Figure l is a side sectional view, showing the inside of the box, with bottle and the round brush as it revolves in the trough. Fi g. 2 is a front view as complete and ready for use. Fig. 3 is a top view with entire cover oft'.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
A represents the box, made of tin or other suitable material. B is the round brush, which is turned or revolved by a crank, b b. 'U is the fountain-bottle, with trough c c, which contains the liquid. On the topor cover of the box is a guido-roll, a a, under which the paper to be gummed is placed just so far as to cover the brush or rest on it.
The crank b b, when turned, revolves the brush, and the paper, being slid through, will come out neatly gummed, doing the work much faster and neater than by the use of the common or ordinary bottle of mucilage and straight brush now in general use.
The brush B can be made or used with bristles, felt, cloth, or other material, to absorb and distribute the mucilage or liquid.
I make no claim on the bottle or box 5 but I claim as my invention- A mucila ge or gumming apparat-us, constructed and arranged as described, with round revolving brush B running in the trough c c of the fountain-bottle O in the box A, substantially for the purpose herein set forth and described.
