IMPROVEMENT IN PORTABLE COOKING-RANGES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 124,412, dated March 5, 1872.
I, ELIAS YOUNG, of Cincinnati, Hamilton county, Ohio, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Portable Cooking-Ranges, of which the following is a specification:
My invention relates to the provision of a casing` or jacket to the sides, back, and bottom of a portable cooking-range, and to suitable apertures in the bottom casing for introducing ashes or other non conducting substance in such jacket, which apertures are closed by suitable caps or covers.
Figure l is a vertical section parallel with the front of the range. Fig. 2 is a horizontal section in the line X X. Fig. 3 is a vertical section in the line Y Y.
The range proper A is inclosed on its sides, rear, and bottom, with casing plates B, which may be of cast or of wrought iron. The space or jacket G, thus formed, may be lled with ashes or other non-conductor, which may be introduced through apertures D in the bottom casing, which apertures are then closed With caps E that may be `screwed or bolted to the casing, in the manner shown.
For shipping to a distance, the jacket may be left unfilled, and the non-conductor be introduced at the place of destination, and then be secured in place by the caps. In this Way the expense of transporting the non-conducting` material, which is easily procurable anywhere is avoided.
I claim as new and of my invention- The provision at the sides, rear, and bottom of a portable cooking-range of an inclosed space or jacket, C, formed by an external me tallic casing, B, Whose bottom portion is pro; vided with apertures D and caps E, in the manner set forth.
