IMPROVEMENT IN LOCK-NUTS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent N0.124,390, dated March 5, 1872.
I, GEORGE P. ROSE, of Milwaukee, Milwaukee county, Wisconsin, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Nut-Locks, of which the following-is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing making a part of the same, in which- Figure l is a plan view of my device.
My invention consists in the peculiar construction of my device, which is a nut provided with a thin circular bedpieceor washer, both being made in one piece, the latter being slit in various portions of its rim so that the edges and points of such portions may be pressed into the wood, or into grooves in the fish-plate upon which the nut rests, and thus 1 revent said nut from turning.
In the drawing, A represents the bar upon which the lock is placed; B, the body of the nut thereaded in the usual way; 0, its thin circular rim; and E, the slits in said rim, which extend radially across said rim from the base of the nut. In use the body of the nut being screwed down upon the threaded end of the bolt, and against the wood or fish-plate, is pre-v shown.
