Be it known that I, Jznuns Lnnrunn VVINANS, a citizen or" the United States of America, residing at Toledo, in the county of Lucas and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful improvements in CushionSeats of which the following is a speciication, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.

The invention relates to cushion seats and has more particular reference to the means employed for quickly attaching the skirt to the spring 'frame inclosed thereby. To this end thi*l invention comprises the nevel con struction as hereinafter set forth.

A. is a cushion of any suitable construction and B is the skirt depending from said cushion, which surrounds and incloscs the spring frame C. D is ametallic strip secured to the inner face of the skirt and eX- tending along adjacent to the lower edge thereof, preferably completely around the skirt, so as to form an annular frame. This strip is provided with hooked clips E for engaging the edge bar F of 'the spring frame, said hooks being preferably 'formed by integral struck-out portions of the strip. The strip is also provided along its lower edge with a bead G, which as-shown deflected outward. V

To quickly and securely attach the strip to the skirt l preferably provide a series of hooks Pi, which are struck outwardly from the strip and are adapted to engage the selvage or corded lower edge l of the skirt. As originally formed, these hooks Il are bent,v as shown in Fig. 3, so as to receive the selvage of the skirt, and they are then secured by clenching about the cord, as indicated in dotted lines in Fig. 3. This operation may be quickly performed and when all of the hooks are clenched the strip is securely attached to the skirt. The bead G being deflected outward forms a guard for protecting the selvage edge of the skirt from Specification of Letters atent.

With the construction as described, the spring iframe and skirt frame may bemannfactured and shipped independently of the cushion and its skirt. When these parts are to be assembled, the skirt frame is slipped within the skirt and the hooks lil are clenched over the selvage edge l. The skirt frame may then be quickly attached to the spring frame by successively engaging the hooks E there with. This construction also permits of at any time quickly detaching the skirt wit-hout injury thereto or the necessity of de! taching` the saine from the strip D. This facilitates the replacing ot' a broken spring or other repairs found necessary, and permits of quickly ice-assembling the parts when repairs are made.

lWhat l claim as my invention is l. The combination with a cusl'iion and a depending skirt therefor, of a spring frame inclosed by said skirt, a strip extending along the lower edge of said skirt having inwardly-extending books for detachably engaging said spring frame, and outwardlyextending hooks on said strip for embracing the corded edge or' said skirt and adapted to be pressed into clamping engagement therewith. y
