Description

B. F. BROWN.
- Improvement in Fly Brushes.
N0" 124 324 Patente-d March 5, i872.
.Wimesses: l ent BENJAMIN F. BROWN, OF OATLIN, INDIANA.
IMPROVEMENT IN FLY-BRUSHES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 124,324, dated March 5, 1872.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, 'BENJAMIN F. BROWN, of Catlin, in the county of Parke and in the State of Indiana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Fly-Brush; and do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawing and to the letters of reference marked thereon, making a part of this specification.
The nature of my invention consists in the construction and arrangement of a fly-brush, as Will be hereinafter more fully set forth.
In order to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to make and use the same, I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawing, Which represents a perspective view of my fly-brush.
A represents a bar of any suitable dimensions, provided in the center with a cross-bar, B, extending on both sides, so that, when laid or placed on the floor, said cross-bar will prevent the bar A from tipping over sidewise. At each end of the bar A is a short standard or post, C, to which a bar or lever, D, is pivoted, the lower ends of which levers are connected immediately above the bar A by a treadle, E. The upper ends of said levers are also connected by means of a har, G, which may be pivoted to the levers, or its ends forked and a pin, a, passing through each fork, which pins are placed or rest in forks at the upper ends of the levers, so that the bar Gr can readily be lifted out when desired. To this bar G the fly-brushes H H are suitably attached.
This device being placed so that the bedpiece A passes under the table, the levers D I), one on each side, and. the bar G with the brushes above the table, it is readily operated by a person Working the treadle E back and forth. To prevent the levers D D from moving back and forth too far, there is attached to each standard() a Wire or other guide, l), and to each lever a spring, d, Which spring strikes the guide and regulates the motion of the levers.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
I. The combination of the bed A B, posts C G, levers D D, treadle E, and bar G, with brushes H H, allV coi'istrueted and arranged substantially as and for the purposes herein set forth.
2. In combination with the above, I claim the guides b b, and springs d d, arranged to operate substantially as and for the purposes herein set forth.
- In testimony that I claimthe oregoin gIhave hereunto set my hand this 3d day of January,
BENJAMIN F. BROWN.
