' This invention relates to a window blind, and more particularly to the class of blinds adapted to be ap lied and removed from a window frame without disturbing the window sashes or the ordinary wire screens usually em loyed.

One of t e objects of the invention is to provide means whereby the blind may be attached to the interior of the window frame so as to preclude the possibility of the interior of the room being viewed by unauthorized persons and without precludingthe efficient ventilation through the window.

Another object of the invention is the provision of a blind of this character wherein the construction thereof permits the application of the same to variable sized window casings and can be attached to and removed from the casing with despatch.

Another ob ect of the invention is the rovision of a blind of this character which is extremely simple in construction, thoroughly reliable and eflicient in its purpose, will cut off the view of the room from the outside without appreciably interfering with the light or illumination of the room, and also one which is inexpensive in manufacture.

With these and other objects in view, the invention consists in the features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing and pointed out in the claims hereunto appended.

designates a window casing or frame which f is of the ordinary well known construction,- and to which is adapted to be detachably mounted the blind which may be constructed from any suitable material, but preferably constructed from sheet metal.

The invention herein shown comprises an outwardly bowed portion 1, having the window frame engaging edge portions 2 and3, respectively, which are resilient relative to the bowed portion 1, each being bent on itself at 4 to provide the reinforcing Wings 5 disposedagainst the inner faces of the

2 and 3 as shown, and thus afford the reinforced window frame engaging panels.

2 and 3 in-their folded edges 4 are provided with notches 6 for the reception of fastening devices carried by the facing strips 7 of the window frame or casing A, these fastening devices being in the form of eye screws 8, which are engagedin the window frame, as is clearly shown in Fig. 1 of the drawing.

2 and 3 arevertical rails or cleats 9 and 10 which are adapted to rest against the front face of the strips 7 on the window frame, so that they assist to form a rigid connection with the window frame, and thereby prevent undue rattling or vibration of the blind.

The sheet from which the blind is constructed is provided with a plurality of cuts or slits to form air openings 11, which per mit a free circulation of air therethrough, but which do not serve as sight openings, owin to the fact that they are partially close or shielded by the disposed bent portions 12, which originally filled said air openings and constitute tongues serving as louvers. The slits may be formed with dies or shears and the struckout portions 12 may be bent back any desired distance to suit the stance. Mounted in the reinforcing portions 5 at the inner side of the blind are eye members 13, carrying hook catches 14, which are adapted for detachable engagement inthe eye screws 8 for the detachable fastening of the blind to the window frame or casing A, as will be apparent.

From the foregoing, it will be apparent that I have provided a simple, durable, and efiicient blind which may be readily constructed of sheet metal, and made in a single operation of a stamping and cutting machine by first being die struck to provide cut out portions and then formed into shape, after which the stops or cleats 9 and 10 may be secured.

What is claimed is 1. A window blind including a body formed from a single piece of resilient sheet metal, an intermediate portion of which is bowed, tongues struck out from the intermediate portion and providing air spaces therein, window frame engaging edge portions continuing from the sides of the interreaaeeo mediate portion and having their outer ends folded upon themselves forming reinforcing strips, window frame engaging cleats carried by the outer faces of the edge portions, and means for .adjustably fastening the blind to the frame of the window. a

The combination of a window frame and eyes mounted on the inner surface of the sides thereof, of a blind embodying a bowed portion, tongues struck out from the bowed portion and providing air spaces therein, resilient window frame engaging edge portions continuing from the sides of the bowed portion, reinforcing strips formed on the outer ends of the edge portions, window frame engaging cleats secured to the outer surfaces of the edge portions for abutting the sides of the window frame, the edge portions and the reinforcing strips having notches therein adapted for engagement about the eyes when the cleats abut the sides of the frame, handles on the strips for facilitating application of the blinds, and fastening means on the strips for engagement with the eyes for detachably fastening the blind I in position.
