Description

G. ZOHNER.
ANIMAL RELEASING DEVICE.
APPLICATION FILED MAY 24, 1916.
1 ,242,3U2. Patented Oct. 9, 1917.
v 4- Q -7 g vi i-"- A To all whom it concern Be it knowntliat I, GusTAv game, a
citizen of Canada, residing at F orres, in the Province of Saskatchewan, in the Dominion of C nada, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Animal fteleasing Devices, of which the following is a specification. r
This invention relates to improvements in animal releasing devices-anditsobja t is provide means whereby a number of animals.
confined 1n stalls in a barn may be slmultaneously released by mechanism operable from outside the barn. A further object is to provide an easily operated device that may be cheaply installed in a barn that will operate with maximum eiiiciency. 'With the foregoing and other objects inview the invention consists in the combination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter fully described in this specification, pointed out in the appended claims and illustrated in the accompanying drawings which form a part of said specification and in which Figure 1 is a fragmentary view of a barn showing the application of my improved device.
Fig. 2 is an enlarged fragmentary view of Fig. 1 showing the hitching ring released.
Fig. 3 is an end view of Fig. 2 but with the device in assembled or operative position.
Fig. 4 is a section taken on line 4 4 of Fig. V
Fig. 5 is a fragmentary View of Fig. 4 with the ring in released position.
Fig. 6 is a detail of the locking pin and the bar carrying the same. 7
Like reference characters denote corresponding parts throughout the several views.
The reference numeral 1 denotes the barn which is divided into stalls 2 and to the manger wall 3 in each stall angular guide brackets 4 are secured, one end of said brackets abutting the top rail 5 of the manger wall. A pull rod 6 extends through one end of the barn and along the manger wall and through the several brackets 4 and is slotted longitudinally as at 7 in each stall to receive the hooked link 8 which pivotally carries the locking pin 9 and through the hooked end of which a pivot 11 extends that is carried by the said rod 6. Through a perforation 12 in the manger wall the smaller end of a Y-shaped bracket 13 extends, said and be g ad pted to receive the said pin IMAL-amusing EVICE. v

To the end of the pull rod 6 outside the barn an operating lever 19 is secured, said lever being pivoted to a stud 20 carried by In Fig. 1 the device is shown in operative position. To'release therings 16 simultaneously the lever 19 is moved upon its pivot away from the barn thus moving the rod 6 and, with it, the several links 8 which as they are drawn through the brackets 4 are raised into the slotted portions 7 of the pull rod thus withdrawing the pins 9 from brackets13 that carrysaid rings 16 and so freeing the latter which the several animals in the stalls may take with them upon their straps 18 as they leave the barn or stable. moving the pull rod back to initial position, re-inserting the brackets 13 into the manger wall and placing the pins 9 and rings 16 in engagement with said brackets.
What is claimed is l. The combination with a slotted pull rod and an operating lever therefor, of links pivotally hung in the slotted portions of The device is reassembled by said pull rod, angular guide brackets for said pull rod normally in supporting engagement with said links to retain them at an oblique angle with said pull rod, resilient Y-shaped brackets arranged below the slotted portions of said pull rod, hitching rings releasably carried by said brackets and pins pivotally carried by said links for releasable engagement with the smaller or closed ends of said Y-shaped brackets.
2. The combination with a supporting element formed with suitable perforations, of a slotted pull rod, links pivotally hung in the slotted portions of said pull rod, angular guide brackets for said pull rod normally in supporting engagement with said links to retain them at an oblique angle with said pull rod, resilient Y-shaped brackets arranged below the slotted portions of said pull rod and having their smaller or closed ends as ed th g t e f i n of aid supporting. element, hitching rings releasably retained in the open ends of said Y- shaped brackets, pins pivotally carried by the aforesaid links for releasable engagement with the smaller ends of said Y-shaped brackets, and an operating lever for said pull rod.
3. The combination with a supporting ele ment formed with suitable perforations, of a slotted pull rod, an operating lever for said pull rod, links pivotally hung in the slotted portions of said pull rod, pins pivotally carried by said links, resilient Y-shaped brackets having their closed ends passed through the perforations in said supporting element to receive the aforesaid pins, hitching rings releasably carried by the open ends of said Y-shaped brackets and means carried by said supporting element for supporting and guiding said pull rod and for retaining said links at an oblique angle with said pull rod while the latter member is in its normal position and for moving said links wholly into the slotted portions of said red 'as' the latter member is moved in one direction by the said operating lever.
In testimony that I'olaim the foregoing as my own I have hereto afliXed my signature in the presence of two subscribing witnesses: V
