Referring to the drawing by numerals, 7 designates the one end of the rail, as shown, which is adapted 'for use with a frog, and which rail end 7 has base anges 8, web 9 and ball 10, similar to an ordinary rail, so that it may be joined to an ordinary rail in a common-manner, as by fish plates, which I have .not deemed it-necessary to show.
Next the end 7, the'rail, the Vone base liange 8 is extended laterally to form a flange 11, and upstand-v ing therefrom is a web 12 arranged to support a ball 13, constituting a guard par-y alleling the ball 10.
