Specification of Letters Patent.
Application led January 22, 1916. Serial No. 73,550.
T0 all whom t may concern.'
Be it known that I, KARL GUSTAF FABIAN- soN, a citizen of Sweden, residing at Cortland, in the county of Cortland, in the State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Camp-Stools, of which the following is a specification. I
This invention relates to improvements in camp stools and its object is to produce a stool which is simple in construction, cheap to manufactureV and eificient in use. The stool comprises three folding legs pivotally connected to a center piece and carrying a iexible seat at one end and connected by releasable terminal braces at the other end.
The invention consists in the arrangement Vof parts to be hereinafter fully described in the following specification, pointed out in the appended claims and illustrated in the accompanying drawings which form a part of said specification and in which- Figure l is a perspective view of my stool in elevation.
Fig. 2 is a plan view of the leg braces showing their interlocking arrangement.
Fig. 3 is a cross sectional view taken on line 3 3 of Fig. 2.
Fig. 4; is a similar view taken on line i-4L of Fig. 2.
Fig. 5 is a cross section through Fig. l showing the center piece and the manner of pivotally connecting the legs thereto.
Fig. 6 is a side elevation of one leg.
Fig. 7 is a plan view of Fig. 6.
Fig. S is a view of the stool folded.
Like reference characters indicate corresponding parts throughout the several views.
My stool comprises three channeled legs 1 each of which comprises two sections, preferably of equal length, hinged together as at 2 andconnected by pivots 3 to a triangular center piece 4. The upper ends of the legs carry the flexible seat 5 and the lower ends are connected, when in operative relation, by the angular braces 6 each of which is notched mediately as at 7 to releasably receive an integral tongue 8 of another brace whereby the braces are secured together. Each brace 6 is pivotally secured by screw bolt 9 to the legs 1. v
In Fig. l the stool is shown in operative position. To fold the same into the position shown in Fig. 8 the braces 6 are manually moved out of engagement with each other, the legs are folded upon their hinges and then turned upon each other which movement will fold the seat 5 as illustrated. Vhile the foregoing is the preferred form of my invention it is understood that it is capable of a number ofmodications and refinements all of which it is intended to an ticipate by the appended claims. I
What is claimed is l. In a camp stool, folding legs provided with a seat, a triangular center piece, pivotal connection between said legs and center piece, braces pivotally connected to said legs and formed with bent terminations, and means carried by said bent terminations for releasable engagement with the straight portions `of said braces. Y
2. In a camp stool, folding legs provided with a seat, a triangular center piece, pivotal connection between said legs and center piece, notched bra ces pivotally connected to said legs and formed with bent terminations and tongues formed integral with said bent terminations for engagement with the notched portions of the braces.
In testimony that I claim the foregoingv Copies of this patent may be obtained for ve cents each, by addressing the Commissioner of Patents, Washington, D. G.
