CHARLES E. ADAMSON, 0F BUFFALO, NEW YORK, ASSIGNOR TO ADDRESSOGRAIPH COMPANY, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS, A CORPORATION OF ILLINOIS.
NAME-PLATE FOR DUPLICATING-MACHINES.
Application filed October 8, 1914.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CHAnnEs E. AnAMsoN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Buflalo, in the county of Erie and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Name-Plates tor Duplicating-Machines, of which the followthe letter may be printed and with each impression thereof a different name, address, and if desired, Salutation may be printed therewith.
Name plates of this type have heretofore been too expensive for general use, and it is the p imary object of my invention to provide a simple and inexpensive construction in which a plurality of type units may be assembled to print a name, address and salutation.
To this end the invention consists in a name plate having a body portion provided at one end with an integral spacing flange and at its other end with a removable clamping member provided with an integral spacing flange, said clamping member retaining the assembled type units within the body which latter is slotted to receive said type units and also serves to hold the name plate elevated so that when they are stacked in a pile, those above and beneath Will not come in contact with the type.
In the drawings,
Figure 1 is a plan view of a name plate constructed according to this invention.
I is a transverse section taken on line 22,
Fig. 3 is a detached perspective view of the body portion of the name plate.
Fig. 4 is a detached perspective view of the removable clamping member.
The name plate is constructed of sheet metal of the required gage to assure rigidity of the same, and it comprises a body portion A and a removable end clamping portion B.
Specification ofI-etters Patent.

Serial No. scarce.
The body portion is of oblong shape and at one end has a downwardly and inwardlydirected spacing and supporting flange C which serves to stiffen the body portion and at the same time hold said body portion elevated. The body portion is provided with a plurality of transverseiy-disposed slots D which extend from one end thereof to Within a short distance at its other end, and while I have shown ti" slots, any additional number may be used. depending on whether or not a street address desired or whether the salntation to be printed separate from the be 3* portion of a letter.
in vth l. A
is desired to be n'in al slot will be required, and where a salutat-ien is to be printed With the name and complete address of the ad- .dressee, a fourth slot will. be required.
- shown only the city residence,
As it is dii'iicult to read the name and address irorn the type, the name plate is provided with olaulr re above the slots, andv on this space may be secured in any suitable nmnner a card K on which the name and address is printed so that the same can be ea i i The reznm member B is termed it upon itself, as a tub parallel rlanipmg a space of a size to ringed end of the body portion A, Ll said end being clamped between said w, lls it in a manner to prevent accidental remove of the clamping member from said body; artion. To facilitate the entrance of the unllanged end of said body portion into the clamping member, theupper wall H is-flared, as at I. The lower wall H is somewhat wider than the uppenwall H and provided with a right angular extension J which serves as a supporting flange and cooperates with the flange 0 of the body portion to hold the latter elevated, thus permitting the name plates to be stacked in a pile without having the faces of the type oar 5:0 engage the unfianged end of ing flange of the body portion to hold $116 16 said body gertian, said removable clamping. printingdevice elevated. member being farmed of a strip Qf metal In testimony whereof I afiix my signature "@8111; upon itself provide two spaceld I:Valls in presence of two Witnesses.
