To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN C. KINGSLAND, a citizen of the United States, residing at Arlington, in the county of Hudson and State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Trusses; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it app'ertains to make and use the same.
This invention has for its object to provide a simple and eflicient truss, which may be comfortably and effectively worn by the user and which includes novel means for supporting the truss pads in position.
With this and other objects in View, the invention consists in the novel construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter specifically described, claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which:

Referring to the drawing in detail, the numeral 5 indicates a pair of truss'pads of oval shape and preferably constructed of rubber or other yieldable material, having an internal air-tight chamber to increase the resiliency of the pad. Screws 6 are adjust ably fitted in internally threaded apertures formed in bushings or sleeves l6 fitted in the pads 5 and spring supporting rods 7 are looped about the shanks of the screws 6 and are suitably curved to comfortably fit the body of the wearer.
The ends of the rods or wires 7 opposite the pads 5 are adjustably fitted in sleeves 8 rotatably mounted in apertures 7 formed in lugs 9, carried by circular plates 10. The plates 10 are preferably constructed of hard Specification of Letters Patent.

Metallic plates-0r straps 11 are secured to the plates 10 and are formed with l0ngitudinal slots 12 pivotally receiving screws 13,which are threaded in the sleeves 8 and adjustably secure the terminals of the wires 7 in position therein.
The plates 10 are secured against movement longitudinally of the rods 7 by the screws 13, whereas the movement of the latter in the slots 12 permits a limited pivotal movement of the plates upon the rods so as to allow the plates to be adjusted in such manner as to be comfortably worn by the wearer.
One end of a flexible strap 14 is secured under the headed terminal of one of the screws 13 and the other terminal of the strap is provided with a plurality of apertures 15 to receive the other screw 13, whereby the plates 10 are acljustably connected.
One terminal of a connecting hook 17 is looped and pivotally supported upon the screw 6 of one of the truss pads 5 and the opposite end of the hook is turned to provide a beak 18 for detachable engagement with the screw 6 carried by the other truss pad 5, thus forming a connection between the front ends of the rods 7 for supporting the truss pads 5 in proper position with relation to the rupture.
What I claim is:
1. A truss comprising a pair of truss pads, supporting rods, means pivotally securing the rods to the pads, a hook pivotally secured at the point of connection between one of the pads and rods and adapted to engage the other pivotal connection to connect the pads, and adjustable means connecting the rear ends of the rods.
2. A truss comprising a pair of truss pads, a pair of rods connected with the pads, a hook pivotally secured to one pad and detachably engaged with the other and providing a connection between the front ends of the rods, plates pivotally connected with the rear ends of the rods, and an adjustable connection between the plates.
3. A truss including a pair of truss pads, In testimony whereof I affix my signature sleeves secured in the pads, screws fitted in in presence of witnesses.
