COMBINATION FAUCET AND DRINKING-FOUNTAIN.

To all whom it may concern:
handle. is moved in one direction, while the valve is provided with a port which when the handle is moved in the opposite direction will register with the water passage within the faucet so that the faucet may be used in the usual manner.

With these andother ends in view which will readily' appear as the nature of the invention is better understood, the same con-' sists in the improved construction and novel arrangement and combination of parts which will hereinafter be fully described and particularly pointed out in the claims.
In the accompanying drawings has been illustrated a simple and preferred form of the invention, it being, however, understood that no limitation is necessarily made to the precise details of construction therein shown, but that changes, alterations and modifications within the scope of the claims may be resorted to when desired.

Figure l is a vertical longitudinal sectional view through a faucet constructed in accordance with the invention, the valve and valve stem included therein being shown partly in elevation.

Fig. i is a horizontal transverse sectional View through the valve and valve chamber showing the same removed fromthe faucet with the valve moved to a position in which the fountain port registers with an outlet opening in the valve chamber so that fluid from the water passage in the valve stem may be drained therefrom.
Fig. 5 is a view similar to Fig. 4, showing the valve moved to a position in which the fountain port registers with an inlet opening in the valve chamber to establish communication betweenthe water passage in the valve stem and faucet.

Like characters of reference denote corresponding parts throughout the several site end an enlarged and threaded portion 2 for connection with the water supply pipe and provided throughout its length with a water passageway 3, said body being provided between its ends with an enlargement extending above and below the water passageway 3 to provide a vertically extending bore 5. A cylindrical sleeve 7 issecured within the bore 5 inany suitable manner, said sleeve having'its inner peripheral wall tapered to provide a valve seat 8. A tapered valve 9 is mounted to turn in said seat and is provided with a faucet port 10 adapted to register with faucet inlet and outlet openings 11 and 12 arranged atdiametrically opposite points in the portion ofthe sleeve within the water passage 3.
The valve 9 is further provided with a fountain port 13 adapted to register with a fountain inlet o-pening la in the sleeve 7 and having a reduced and angularly ar- 1 ranged portion for registrtion with; ai fountain outlet-openingt'15 in the sleeve 7 and diametrically opposite the inlet opening lt. . a I valve casinginisaid chamber having, spaced pairs of upper and lower openings therein alining with the passage of the faucet body, a valve mounted to turn in said casing and having a passage extending longitudinally thereof and provided at its lower end with a pair of branches arranged at right angles thereto and diverging outwardly from the lower end of said passage to the periphery of the valve, one of said branches being adapted to normally register with one of the openings in the uppermost pair of openings in the valve casing, the other of said branches being adapted to register with the other opening in the uppermost pair of openings in the valve casing when the valve is partially rotated in one direction, a second passage in said valve extending transversely thereof adapted to register with the lowermost pair of openings in the valve casing when the valve is partially rotated in the opposite direction, and a cup on said valve Copies of this patent may be in communication with the upper end of the first mentioned passage.

In a device of the class described, a faucet body, a valve mounted to turn in said body and extending above the same, said valve having a passage therein adapted to coiimunicate with the interior of the faucet b0 ya having a collar thereon through which the extending portion of the valve is passed, said collar having an opening therein, and a fiow control member on said valve having an end extending within the opening in said collar and its other end extending within the passage in said valve.
