Be it known that l, linuUnD L. lvloonn, a citizen of the United States, residing at Vega Baja, Porto Rico, have invented new and useful Improvements ini Motor Attach- 1nentsot which the following isa speciiication.

This invention conten'iplates the provision of an attachment for motor vehicles in the nature of `a shield adapted to be arranged within the hood to bridge' the hinge or joint imtween the hood sections, and to overhang the spark plug, to prevent rain or wash water leaking through the hood and wetting the spark` plugs and wires connected therewith, resulting in short circuits and trouble in starting the motor.

The nature and advantages of the invention. will be better understood from the ollowing description wherein the construction, combination and arrangement oiparts are specifically set Iforth, and clearly definedin the appended claims.

Secured to the under side of the .arms 12Y is a shield 11 which preferably consists of a metal plate bolted to the arms by means of vthe bolts 16,01' otherwise suitably secured. W'hile it is stated that the shield consists of a metal plateit is to be understood that the same may be constructed from, any other suitable material. As shown the shield is so disposed as to bridge the hinge lor joint connection between the hood sections 18 re-4 spectively, and is of a width slightly in excess of the width of the motor to prevent any water which might leak through the joint inthe hood from dropping upon the spark plug or wires connected therewith, which frequently results in short circuits and causes considerable trouble in starting the machine, 4it being manifest that should anyy water leak through the hood .it will be directed or g'uidcd by the shield 16 to a point at the side of the motor beyond the s ark plug with a view of eliminating the a ovenoted objections resulting from the wetting of the spark plug or wires connected Vtherewith.

In the modified form of the invention disclosed in Fig.A 5 the bracket 17 is constructed from a single length of suitable material bent uponpitsel)c to provide an upstanding intermediate loop 19 which receives the rod F and clamped thereabout by means of the bolt 20 as shown. In other respects the bracket is supported and used 'in the same manner as described in connection with the preferred forni oi the invention. I

While it is believed that from the foregoing description the nature and advantages of the invention will be apparent without re- .quiring amore extended explanation, it is desired to have it understood' that the construction and arrangement Vof parts herein shown and described is merely illustrative of one embodiment-ot the invention, and that various changes inthis respect may be resorted to when desired as fall scope of the appended claims.y

What is claimed is :-l 1.
