IMPROVEMENT IN DINNER-PAILS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 123,963, dated February 2U, 1872.
pail,as will be hereinafter more fullyset'forth.
In order to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to make and use the same, I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawing, which represents a longitudinal vertical section of my dinner-pail.
A represents the body ot' the pail or kettle, provided with two bottoms, B and C, leaving a sucient space between them for the insertion of a spirit-lamp, D. rlhe body A, between the bottoms B C, is perforated, and provided with a door, E', for the insertion and removal of the lamp D. The portion ot thepail above the bottom B is intended for co'ee or other liquid, and a horizontal tube, E, leads through the same, with a short tube, Gr, from said tube E to and through the center of the bottom B, so
that the heat from the lamp may pass up through the liquid and heat the same. The ends ofthe horizontal tube E pass through the sides of the pail, and are then turned upward, so as to allow the gases from the lamp to escape. In the top of the pail A is inserted the chamber H, for holding the bulky part ofthe dinner, which also becomes heated by the steam from the liquid below. r1`he chamber H is covered by a lid, I, having a central upward-projecting rim or collar, J, upon which the cup K is placed.
Having thus fully described my invention,-
what I cla-im as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. The combination of the pail A with bottoms B C, lamp D, and tubes E (lr, all constructed and arranged substantially as and for the purposes herein set forth.
2. The within-described dinner-pail, consisting` of the body A, bottoms B O, lamp D, tubes E G, chamber H, lid I, and cup K, all coustructed and arranged substantially as and for the purposes herein set forth.
In testimony that I cla-im the foregoing,` I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 19th day of December, 1871.
LEVI K. WILLIAMS.
