Description

momma, on no w E POLISHING" COMPOSITION.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, RICHARD L. MAIN- wnnmo, a subject of the King of Great Britain, and a resident of the borough of Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and city and State of New York, have invented a new. and useful Cleaning and Polishing Composition, of which the following is a full, clear, and complete disclosure.
My invention relates to a composition designed particularly for use in the cleaning and polishing of furniture, pianos, automobiles, and various other painted, varnished 4 or enameled surfaces, and is particularly adapted to remove therefrom dirt, grease and imperfections, and to give the surface a high polish and a glossy appearance Further advantages of my invention are its ease and economy of preparation and Sim plicity of application to the surface which is to be trea.
The composition is prepared from the fol lowing ingredients, preferably in the proportions stated': a
'H" to beeswax-M ounces by weight;
Benzin-l gallon;
Wood alcohol-3 fluid ounces;
Concentrated ammonia-2 fluid ounces;
Oil of mirbane3 fluid ounces.
The purpose of the oil of mirbane is to neutralize the odors of the other ingredients,
The ingredients are preferably mixed according to the following method :-First the beeswax is dissolved in the benzin; to facili= tats this, the beeswax should be broken up into small pieces. The benzin and beeswax; are allowed to stand for a period oiabout twenty four hours. on the beeswax is Specification of Letters Patent.
Patent se n near a,
Application filed April it, 1917. Serial No. 1%)411. v
thoroughly dissolved, the wood alcohol, con centrated ammonia, and oil of mirbane are stirred in. This completes the preparation of the composition, and it is then ready for use.
It is applied to the articles to be cleaned and polished by moistening a sponge or cloth with it and rubbing it on. The article is then rubbed with a soft cloth, chamois or other like material, and a clean, highly polished surface is the result.
The stated proportions of the ingredients of my cleaning and polishing composition may be somewhat varied without going beyond the scope of my invention.
Having now described my invention, what I claim is:
1. A cleaning and polishing composition, consisting of beeswax, benzin, alcohol and ammonia.
2. A cleaning and polishing composition, consisting oi. beeswax, benzin, alcohol, animonia, and a substance for the purpose of neutralizing the odors of the other mgredients.
3. A cleaning and polishing composition, consisting of white beeswax, benzin, wood. alcohol, concentrated ammonia, and oil oil mirbane.
l. A cleaning and polishing composition, consisting of the proportions of i l ounces by weight of white beeswax, to 1 gallon of benzin, to 3 fluid ounces of wood alcohol, to 2 fluid ounces of concentrated ammonia, to?) fluid ounces of oil oi mirbane, substan tially as described ltlfillhltll L, WAINWAETNG;
