To all 'whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, JOHN Nnwnimr REYN- oLDs, a citizen of the United States, resid-l ing at Greenwich, in the county of Fairiield and State of Connecticut, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Automatic Switches, of which the following is a full, clear, concise, and exact description.
This invention relates to telephone switch mechanisms, and more particularly to improvements in switch mechanisms shown in my Patent No. 1,131,734, March 16, 1915, in which circuit connections are established through the agency of two sets of relatively movable contactmembers carried by movable bars termed trunk and line bars. The trunk hars are arranged to be selectively displaced to bring their contacts into position to be engaged by contacts upon a line bar. The engagement between contacts of an operated line har and trunk bar causes said trunk bar to be swung to a position where the contactswill be out of engagement with contacts of subsequently operated line bars. Line bars 6 6, which are adapted to cooperate with these trunk bars, are made in skeletonized forin and each comprises a pair of side-supporting members between which are located the current conducting members. The conducting members are separated from each other and from the side-supporting members by means of insulating strips. Projecting i strips are the contacts 7-7.
One end of a line -bar` 6 is supported by a simple voted link 10, one end of which is attache to the line bars by a pivot pin 12',
and the other to the frame 1 by the pivot pin f 12. At the opposite end of the line bar there is a link 11, pivotally mounted to the frame 1 by means of a pivot 'pin 13. One end of the link 11 is. attached-to the line' bar 6, while another end thereof is provided with a pin 37. Upon the calling subscriber hanging up his receiver at the termination of the conversation, the current of magnet 22 is interrupted and thedenergization of the ma et allows thegarm- 21 to drop by means o its own weight and.' spring 15 to its normal position, thus, returning the line bar and the terminals ,thereon to their normal positions.
