Each of the end members'or caps 7 has punched from the metal thereof a tongue 9, which is formed and pressed inwardly as to project into a cutout portion or recess 10 iii the end of the casing or shell 5 and form contact with whichever fuse is located in position so that its rivet is within said opening 10, The shell 5 is also provided with a small opening 1 near one end thereof, and ,the inner rotatable member 2 is marked on the extw'ior thereol' directly over the point where each fuse is located with some suitable indicating character which will appear in said opening 1 when the uiem'lwr 2 has beenrotated as to bring one of the fuses into contact with the tongues carried by the caps. The tongues 9 and openingslo also perform the function of forming.a positivo stop to prevent the rotation of the-shell 5 rclati'velv to the caps 7 when the inner tubalar member 2 is rotated within said shell.
- The -fuses herein shown are formed of copper ends, as 12, united by a center por- -tion 11 of a softer metal, such as a compound of lead and antimony, said center portion being offset from the cartridge, as
shown clearly in Figs. 3 and 5, and in case of a blowout the weaker center portion of the fuse will bletth'.
,The cartridge 2,. after having the required number of fuses riveted therein, is tilled with asbestos powder, which will lill in the space lnetwecn the wall-of the-cartridge and the center portion of the fuse, so that when a i: use is blown out ignition of any portion of the cartridge is prevented byreason of the fact that the asbestos powder will immediately fill'in any space that is'caused by the blowout, and the ends of the cartridge are closed by means of .a pair of asbestos'dislm i3, which are perforated, as are also the end 5, the shell will be held against rotation relatively to said caps, and by taking hold of the inner member 2 through the openings 6 in the shell 5 the member 2 may be rotated until one of its fuses is in contact with the tongues 9, which is indicated by the appearance of the indicating characterin the opening 1 in the shell. It will thus be seen that when a fuse has blown out, all that is necessary is to take hold of the cartridge 2 through the opening 6 in the shell and rotate said cartridge a short distance thereby to bring the next fuse into position to contact with the contact members or tongues 9.
It will be understood, of course, that I do not desire to confine myself to theidentical details herein shown and described, but'that the same may be modified more or less without departing from the spirit and scope of this invention.
I claim as m invention:
1. A. multip e fuse carrier comprising a pair of similarly formed members one located within the other and one movable relatively to the other, one of said members carrying a plurality of fuses and the other adapted to permit manual 0 eration of said fuse carrying member to ring the fuses successively into an electrical circuit, and means'carried by said fuse carrier for making electrical contact with one of said fuses.
2. A multiple fuse carrier comprising a pair of tubular members, one located within the other from end-to end thereof and rotatable relatively thereto, one of said members carrying a plurality of fuses and the other' adapted to permit manual rotation of said fuse carrying member to bring the fuses successively into an electrical circuit, and means carried by said fuse carrier for making electrical contact with one of said fuses. i
3.,A multiple fuse carrier comprising pair of tubular members, one-located wit 1n tbe other from end toend thereof and rotatable relatively thereto, said inner rotatable member carryln a plurality of fuses and the outer member a apted to permit manual rotation of said fuse carrying member to bring the fuses successively into an electrical c 1rcuit, and means carried by said f use carrier for making electrical contact with one of said fuses.
4. A multiplefuse carriercomprising apair'of similarly formed members one 10- cated within the other and one movable relatively to the other, one of said members carrying a plurality of fuses and the other adapted to permit manual operation of said fuse carrying member to bring the fuses successively into an electrical circuit, and means carried by said fuse carrier for'making electrical contact with one of said fuses and for preventing movement of one of said members.
5. A multiple fuse carrier comprising a pair of similarly formed members one located within the other from end to end thereof and one movable relatively to the other, one of said members earryin a plurality of fuses and the other adapte to permit manual operation of said fuse carrying member to bring the fuses successively into an electrical circuit, means carried by said fuse carrier for making electrical contact with one of said fuses, and cooperating means carried by said members for indicating the proper position of said fuse for making suchcontact.
6. A multiple fuse carrier comprisin a pair of tubular members, one located wit in the other from' end to end thereof and rotatable relatively thereto, one of said members can-yin a plurality of fuses and the other adapte to permit manual rotation of said fuse carr 'ng member to bring the fuses successive ymto an electrical circuit, means carried by said fuse carrier for making electrical contact with one of said fuses, and coing member to bring the fuses successivelyinto an electrical circuit, means carried by said fuse carrier for making electrical con tact with one of said fuses, and cooperating means carried by said members for indicating the proper position of said fuse and comprising characters carried on the inner member and an opening, in the cuter memher with which said characters are adapted to successively register.
8. -A multiple fuse carrier comprising a pair of members one located within the other and one movable relatively to the other, one of said members carrying a plurality of fuses and the other adapted to permit manual operation of said fuse carrying member to bring the fuses successively into an electrical circuit, means for closing the ends of a said members, and coiiperating means carried by said last means and the outer mem ber for making contact with one of said fuses and comprising tongues carried by one rnhty of fuses and the of said elements and projecting through openings carried by the other.
