IMPROVEMENT IN HARNESS-BUCKLES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 123,281, dated January 30, 18.72.
Specifica-tion describing certain Improvements in .Harness-Buckles, invented by JOHN H. MORRIS, of Normal, in the county of Mc- Lean and State of Illinois.
The invention-Will be iirst described in connection with all that is necessary to a full understanding thereofl and then clearly pointed out in the claim.
Figure l is a longitudinal section, and Fig. 2 a plan View ot' my buckle.
A represents the frame, in which B is the upper and C the lower cross-bar, While D is the tongue. A A are respectively the Jfront and back ends ot' the frame. a is a recess in front A. The tongue is pivoted to the front A in recess a, and is bent downward therefrom at D sut'liciently to hold the strap in a plane below it, and then curved at d to rest conveniently on and about the cross-bar C.
The mode of operation is as follows: In order to attach the vstrap, raise the heel of the buckle until the point of tongue enters a hole,
and then draw the strap back. Vhen it is necessary to remove the strap, pull or push it until the tongue leaves its hole, and then retract it.
Having thus described my inventioinwhat I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
l. As an article of manufacture, a harnessbuckle having frame A, cross-bars` B C, and tongue D, constructed and relatively1 arranged as described.
2. The upper crossbar B combined, as described, with tongue to hold the stra-p down to its horizontal position on the tongue.
