IMPROVEMENT IN BLACKSIVHTHS TOOL=BO XES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 123,245, dated January 30,1872.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, BENJAMIN Gr. DEVOE and TIMOTHY ROGER-s, of Fredericktown, Ohio, and JOHN C. BEALS, of Searsport in the county of Waldo and in the State of Maine, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Blacksmiths Tool-Box; and do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawing and to the letters of reference marked thereon makiug a part of this specification.
The nature of our invention consists in the construction and arrangement of a black smiths tool-box, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.
In order to enable others skilled in the art to which our invention appertains to make and use the same, we will u ow proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawing, which represents a perspective view of our tool-box.
A represents an upright spindle or shaft, provided with a handle, B, at its upper end, and at its lower end with legs 0 O, which are provided with casters a a, to facilitate the moving of the box when not requisite to lift it. On the spindle A is placed a hollow post or sleeve D, to which is attached two heads, E E, forming the top and bottom of the box, the top being larger than the bottom, and both of the same shape, round or polygonal, as may be desired. These heads are connected by partitions G G, radiating from the center and forming a series of compartments, having their lower portions inclosed, as shown, and their sides open. These compartments are for the reception of the various tools used. The top of the box is by narrow partitions I) 1), divided into different divisions for the reception of nails, 8pc. Two of the sides of the box may be entirely closed, as shown at H H, and the whole strengthened by an iron circle, I, attached to s tld sides. The entire box thus formed is free to rotate on the upright spindle or axis A, in either direction, and, by means of the handle B, it may be lifted and carried to the place where needed.
Having thus fully described our invention, what we claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
A blacksmiths tool-box, constructed substantially as herein described, with compartments for the different tools, nails, and other articles used, and revolving upon an upright spindle, which is provided with a handle, and with legs having casters, all substantially as and for the purposes herein set forth.
In testimony that .we claim the foregoing we have hereunto set our hands this 16th day of December, 1871.
