PRIMING DEVICE FOR INTERNAL-COMBUSTION ENGINES.
Application filed March 8, 1916. Serial No. 82,805.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WALTER BROWN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Racine. in the county of'Iacine and State of lVisconsin, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Priming Devices for Internal-Combustion Engines, (Case 2,) of which the following is a full, clear, concise, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming apart of this specification.
My invention relates to priming devices for internal combustion engines and has for its object thel provision of a primer attached to or forming part of a make and break contact support which is sturdy inA construction, which 'can be easily and quickly operated, and which can be cheaply manufactured In a make and break contact ignition sys-- -tem for internal combustion engines it is the the electrodes upon a practice to mount support or bracket and often times to also mount a magneto on the bracket for furnishing the electrical energy for the ignition system. In the preferred forni of my invention I provide this bracket with a well to receive the priming agent, the lower end of the well communicating through a bore in the bracket with the combustion chamber To control communication between the well and the combustion chamber I provide novel valve mechanism which can be cheaply manufactured and which can be quickly opened or closed. the closing of the valve in the preferred form of my invention being done automatically by spring means.

This trip linger may-:be arr.- ranged to operate the movable electrode ,10 by means of the connecting arm 14. but itwill readily be understood that so far as my invention is concerned other means may be employed for operating the electrodes or the magneto.
The bracket l1 contains at its upper end a well 15 arranged to receive the Apriming agent or the gasolcne for priming purposes. The lower end of this well communicates by means of the bore 16 with the combustion chamber. as illustrated. The communication between the well and the bore 16 is controlled by means of a valve in the form of a plug 17 screwed into or otherwise secured to the support, and preferably extending ver-A tically throughithe'center of the well. The Aplug 17 is providedwith a bore 18, which affords communication between the wellv and -the bore 16.V For closing the lower end of' the borev 18 I provide the plungervalve -member 1'9, whichfcontains at its lower end the enlarged portionA 20 and at' its upper endv thefnger piece 21.
