COMBINED CONTAINER AND EDUCATIONAL TOY.
Application filed December 30, 1915.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that 1, WILLIAM MORE DECKER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Buffalo, in the county of Erie and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Combined Containers and Educational Toys, of which the following is a specification.
The object of my invention is the production of a capacious and attractive container for powdered talc or similar goods which, after being emptied, shall serve as a toy for the amusement and education of children.
In the accompanying drawings: Figure 1 is a front view of the container. Fig. 2 is a vertical section thereof. Fig. 3 is a cross section on line 33, Fig. 2.
Similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in the several views.
The container comprises a hollow and comparatively high base or pedestal 1 which may be circular, square, oval or of other appropriate form, and a hollow figure 2 surmounting the pedestal and representing an animal, as shown, or any other amusing or educational object attractive to children.
At one end, preferably its bottom, the container is provided with a filling opening closed by a suitable cap or cover 8, while at its other end it has a perforated head or dispensing cap. In the example shown in the drawings, the dispensing cap comprises a perforated plate 4: secured in an opening in the head of the figure and a perforated slide 5 applied to said plate and having holes adapted to register or break register with Specification of Letters Patent.

The hollow base or pedestal communicates with and forms a continuation of the hollow figure, thus materially increasing the capacity of the container. hen empty, the device forms an attractive toy which may also be made to serve an educational purpose by placing the name of the animal or other figure upon the pedestal together with the initial letter of the name, as shown in the drawings.
The container may be used for a variety of goods, but is especially suitable for talc pow der and similar toilet reparations.
It may be cheaply stamped from sheet metal or molded from papier niaclle or otherwise constructed of any other suitable material.
I claim as my invention:
A combined powder receptacle and educational toy, comprising a pedestal adapted to receive printed matter, and a figure surmounting the pedestal, the pedestal and the figure being hollow and communicating with each other to form a goods container which extends throughout the height of the pedestal and the figure, the pedestal being provided in its bottom with a filling opening and the figure having a dispensing cap in its top.
