To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, AN REW A. KRAMER, a citizen of theIInited States, residing at Kansas City, in the county of Wyandotte and Stat of Kansas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Sheet- Metal Buildings; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to whiclr-it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had .to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
My invention relates to sheet metal buildin sand has .for its object to provide a budding pr this character which may be used as a garage for the storage of implements or of vehicles and which is weather proof and substantially rigid.
It' is also an object of the invention to rovl'de a box joint structure which maybe cut at the corners of the building and ridge of the roof without splitting or breaking the box rib'. v v
A further object of the invention is to provide a structure of this character having an eaves trough for conducting water across the door openings. J

are constructed of sheet metal and combined to form a building structure. The side wall and roof members are made up, of separate sections and provided with box ribs 8, which are formed in a press and comprise outstanding ribs preferably square in cross section and all of the same dimensions, so that a rib of one section may be spread over a rib of an adjoining section and be bolted thereto to form a joint; a ib being formed along each longitudinal e e of (each stripso that joints may be formed at the meeting edges of the strips.

The hangers 14 for the doors comprise rollers 16" which are carried in a bracket 17 which has a dependingportion 18 to which the door hanger 19is 'pivotally suspended, so that to open the building the hinged door sections 55 5 may be moved along the track and will follow along the curved portion of the track and toward the rear of the building along the partition wall.

The panel sectionlQ adjacent the opening edge of the door section 5 is providedwith a back turned portion 22 and'aninturned" flange 23 against which the dooinedge may seat, and at the opposite side of tlie'opening I provide the panel 12 with a portion Qt turned back on the body portion. an outturiied portion 25 and a forwardly extending flange 26 forming a socket 27 within which the rear sections of the door may seat when the doors are in closedposition. thereby locking the door so that it .cannot be pushed inwardly and also making it weatherproof. The two forwardsections of the doors. 5 are provided at their outer hinged edge with flanges 28 which overlie the faces' of adjoining sections to effectivelyclosethe joints tlierebetween againstthe weather.
Extending across the front of the entire building above the'door line, I provide an eaves trough 30 whereby waterinay be conducted across the dooropenings, the trough comprising an extended upstanding back portion 31, which is projected back of the down-turned edges of the roof sections and is bolted thereto by bolts 32, and has a base 33 and an 11])tl11l18t'l0l1t81' wall- 34 which is of less height than the rear bitck'portion 31', and has an outturned stiffening flange 35.
In order to further stiffen the '--downturned portions :of the roof sections 'atlthe front and back of tl1e=bi'iilding. I'provide a large corrugated rib 30 which extends'the entire length of said 'down't irned portions and the back sections a and the-back portion 31 of the trough .30'are'likewise: provided with corrugations 37-38'adapted foi' seat-" ing within the corrugations of the roof members, so that when the two are bolted together they are substantiallystiffened and no additional bracing is necessary.
The trough is extended beyond the wall at one end of the structure and is provided with a brace/10 and has an opening 44 therein for receiving a drain spout to conduct the water to the ground, or away from the building.
In order to further stiffen the side walls and prevent water from running thereunder I provide a seat 42 which preferably consists of an angle iron to which the lower edges of the wall sections may be bolted, and having a base section which is extended outwardly beyond the walls which may be bolted'or otherwise secured to a base or foundation.
The windows 7 may be of any suitable type, those herein illustrated comprising circular openings equipped with pivotally mounted panes 45which may be swung iiiwardly and outwardly within the opening.
The partition walls (3 are of the same general construction as the outer walls and are bolted to the rear wall, the central front panel 12, and to the roof section, thereby serving as a tie for those parts and acting as astilfening and supporting' neinber for the roof sections.
In manufacturing the building, sheet metal strips of proper Width are run through a corrugating machine to forinthe trans,
verse corrugations. They are-then Worked on a press to form the longitudinal box ribs. The roof sections are then shaped on a suitableforin, the transverse corrugations 011 the roof sheet strips enabling the metal to be bent to form the end curves and the center tion bolted to the wall and roof sections.

and means for attaching the rear Wall of said trough to the side member of the building.

In a building comprising a side opening and a roof provided with a downturned portion, forming a part of the side wall of the building and having a free edge terminating at the top of said opening, a hanger carried by the said downturned roof portion, a door carried by said hanger, and a trough having a rear wall projected between the side wall member of the building and said door and attached to the side Wall member whereby the door may move along the inner wall of the trough and the side member drain into said trough substantially as set forth.
