posed at the face *of the plate, the roller having a Spiral groove, which with the spiral groove in the plate forms circular openings, the roller and the plate being rotated to lmove the roller and the plate in opposite directions at neighboring points, this movement of the plateand roller serving to roll the material into spheres forming the marbles.
A further object of the invention is to provide another roller with grooves disposed adjacent the spiral groove in .the plate, to r'oll the material in the groove therein.
Additional objects of the invention will 1 appear in the following specification in which the preferred form of the invention is disclosed.

By referring to the drawings, it will be 'seen that a frame 10 is'provided having a central vertical bearing 11 in which a hollow shaft 12 is disposed, this hollow shaft 12 being secured to a plate 13 which is mounted to rotate on the frame 10 at the bearing 11. Disposed in the hollow shaft 11, and through an opening in the plate 13, there extends a support 14 which is mounted on a horizontal member 15 of the frame. The

Parts of the spiral groove 22 are disposed opposite parts of the spiral groove 21 where the roller 19 and the plate 13 are disposed adjacent each of the spiral groove 22 and the parts of the spiral groove 21 are Substantially circular in shape, so that when the material is deposited in the groove 21 it will be carried with the plate 13 to the roller 19, and the material will be preed and rolled into a circular form by the spiral grooves 21 and 22. The material is deposited in the spiral groove 21 at its periphery, and this material is rounded by the roller. 19 at its spiral groove 22 at each rotation of the plate 13, the material being gradually moved to an orifice 21a in the plate 13, when it rolls therethrough. The roller 20 has a smooth circular face, and its function is merely to roll the material in the groove 21 to assist in rounding terial and to move the material in the spiral groove 21 toward the orifice in the plate 13. To the hollow shaft 12, below the bearing 11, there is secured a bevel gear 23 which ,meshes with bevel gears 24 and 25, one disposed at each side of the bevel gear 23, the bevel gear 24 being secured to a shaft 26 journaled in bearings 27 and 28. At the outer end of the shaft 26 there is secured a gear 29 which meshes with a gear 30 rotatably mounted on a stud 31 secured to the frame 10, the said gear 30 meshing with a gear 32 secured to the shaft on which the roller 19 is mounted. The bevel gear 25 is mounted on a shaft 33 journaled in bearings 34 and 35 in the frame 10, a gear 36 being secured to the outer end of the shaft 33 which meshes with a gear 37 rotatably mounted on a stud 38 secured to the frame,l
this gear 37 j meshing with a gear 39 which is secured to the shaft on which the roller 20 is mounted. A pulley 40 is secured to the shaft 33 beyond the gear 36.
Fig. 3 of the drawings illustrates another means for rotating the roller 20 and the plate 13, the plate 13 having a gear 41 with which meshes a gear 42 on a shaft 43, the said shaft 43 being journaled in a bearing 44 Another gear 45 is secured to the shaft 43, which meshes with the gear 37 which has been referred to. A pulley 46 is mounted on the shaft 43 beyond the gear 45.
Having thus' described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent: v
1. In a marble machine, a plate having a spiral groove in its face, substantially semicircu-lar in cross-section, a roller disposed at the face of the plate with a spiral groove substantially semi-circular in cross-section and with each part of the groove in the roller adjacent the plate disposed opposite a part of the groove in the plate, and means to rotate the plate and the roller in opposite directions at neighboring points.
2. In a marble machine, a plate having a spiral groove in its face, a roller disposed at the face of the plate with a spiral groove and with each part of the groove in the roller adjacent theplate disposed opposite a partof the groove in the plate, and means to rotate the plate and the roller in opposite directions at neighboring points.
3. In a marble machine, a plate having a spiral groove in its face substantially semi-A circular in cross-section and a roller disposed radially at one side of the face of the plate with a spiral groove substantially semi-circular in cross-section and with each part of the groove in the roller adjacent the plate disposed opposite a part of the groove in the plate` and means to rotate the plate and the roller in opposite directions at neighboring points.
4. In a marble machine, a plate having a spiral groove in its face substantially semicircular in cross-section and a roller disposed radially at one side of the face of the plate with 'a spiral groove substantially semi-circular in cross-section and with each part of the groove in the roller adjacent the plate disposed opposite a part of the groove in the plate, means to rotate the plate and the roller in opposite directions at neighboring points, and a second roller with a smooth face spaced from the first roller and disppsed radially at'one side of the face of the p ate.
5. In a marble machine, a plate having a spiral groove in its face, substantially semicircular in cross-section and a roller disposed at the face of the plate with a spiral groove substantially semi-circular in crosssection and with each part of the groove in the roller adjacent the plate disposed opposite a part of the groove in the plate, means to rotate the plate and the roller in opposite directions at neighboring points, and a second smooth roller disposed at the face of the plate.
6. In a marble machine, a frame having central vertical bearing, a plate rotatably mounted on the frame and having av central opening, a hollow shaft journaled in the bearing and secured forv rotating the plate, a vertical support disposed throughthe hollow shaft and the central opening in the plate, bearings in the support above the plate, bearings on the Jrame above the horizontal plane of the plate, two rollers disposed radially above the plate one at each side of the support 'and journaled in theA last mentioned bearings and in the bearings in the support, gearmg connecting the hollow shaft and the rollers to rotate the plate vand the rollers in opposite directions at adjacent points,4 there being a spiral groove in the plate and a spiral groove in one of the rollers disposed opposite each other at neighboring points.
8. In a marble machine, a frame, a plate rotatably mounted on the frame and having a central opening, a vertical support disposed throughthe central opening, in the plate, bearings in the support aboveV the plate, bearings on the frame above the horizontal plane of the plate, two rollers disposed radially above the plate one at each side of the support and journaled in the bearings, means to rotate the plate and the rollers in opposite directions at neighboring points, there being a spiral groove in the' plate and a spiral groove in one. of the rollers disposed opposite each other at neighboring points. v
9. In a marble machine, a plate having a spiral groove in its face, there being an orifice through the plate at the spiral groove, a roller disposed at the face of the plate with a spiral groove, and with each part of the groove in the roller adjacent the plate disposed opposite a part of the groove in the plate, and means to rotate the plate and the roller` in opposite directions at neighboring points.
