MILK-30mm HOLDER.
1,226,192., I Application filed March 25,
Be it known that we, GHA-RLEs M. DAvrs and MILTON J. LooMI's, citizens of the United States, residingat Battle Creek, in the county of Calhoun and State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Milk-Bottle Holders, of which the following is a specification.
The present invention relates to milk bottle holders and has, among other objects, to
provide an article of the class that will be simple and stable in construction, tasty in design, easy to operate, economical to manufacture and sanitary in purpose. These and other objects will hereinafter be more fully set forth in the following specification, shown in the accomp'nying drawings and defined in the appended claim.
In the drawings forming a part of this specification, Figure 1 is an embodiment of our invention. 1
Fig. 2 isa cross section .of the same on the line aa;.
Fig. 3 is a metallic blank preparatoryto being formed into a receptacle, as shown in Fig. 1.
Fig.4 is .a modification of our'improved bottle holder, in perspective. I
Fig. 5 is a cross section on the line Fig. 6 is another modification of our bottle holder. Fig. 7 is a 'cross'section on theline Fig. 8 is an outline of a blank employed for forming the front of the receptacles, shown in Figs. 41, 5, 6'and 7.
The bottle holder in the main comprises a hollow sheet-metal receptacle substantially in the form of a parallelogram having one of its. side edges designated as its front, formed with openings which register with narrowed slots in the bottom of the receptacle, the front openings permitting the heads of bottles to enter the receptacle and I bottles.
the slots to receive the necks of bottles suspended therefrom, in which D represents In the drawings, like marks of reference refer to corresponding or, equivalent parts throughout the different views, in which A represents the configuration of a sheetmetal blank from which the main body-portion of one embodiment of our improved bottle holder is formed, and B represents a rectangular-shaped sheet-metal blank from which the fr nt connection between Specification of Letters Patent.

the slotted bottom and the top of receptacles are formed, as'shown in Figs. 4, 5, 6 and 7.
Theblankfll to a certain extent is in the form of a right-angular cross, the widened longer horizontal portion of which forms the top 1, the ends 2, 2, and the end portions 3, 3, of the bottom to a receptacle, the shorter, narrow, horizontal portion forming the rear side 4:, the retaining ledges 5, 5, and the ears 6,6; the vertical narrowed portion forms the intermediate bottom portion 7 while the top central extension to the of a receptacle,'.as
blank forms the front 8 shown in Figs. 1 and 2.
In forming up a receptacle, as shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the ends 2, 2, are bent downtop, and the bottom portions 3, 3, bent at right angles to the aforesaid endsand inwardly toward one another, after which the back portion 4 and the front portion 8 are bent downwardly at right angles to the top 1, thence the intermediate bottom-forming portion 7 and the retaining ledges 5, 5, are bent inwardly, the ledges to underlie the bottom ends 3, 3, and the free edgeof the front 8 turned inwardly to underlie-the intermedi ate bottom portion 7 blanking of the metal and the forming up of the same providing slots B B, for the reception of the necks of bottles, as hereinbefore setforth.
The supporting ear 6, 6, are formed by shearing the metal so that tongues are provided which, when perforated near-their extremities and appropriately bent, afford means by which the receptacle may be attached to a wall or other surface.
In Figs. 4 and 5, the slots B B of the receptacle are formed with edges which are upturned to provide ribs 9, the same being slightly wider at the entrance and wardly tapering toward the rear, the sloping of the Ilbs being to prevent accidental slots B B of the somewhat widened t sam t t a as shown in Fig. 5.
down- .a receptacle of the character set forth, but
being formed up from a material comprises two pieces thereof.
In these modifications the. blank B shown in Fig. 8 forms the front, the same being shaped with inturned bottom and top edges 11 and 12, between which the top and the intermediate bottom of a receptacle is engaged, the parts being suitably united in any convenient and customary manner.
In Figs. 8 and 8, the dotted lines indicate where the metal is folded to form the respective devices into required shape.
From the foregoing description, connection with the drawings, it
which instead of single blank of taken ill will be evident that we have disclosed a milk bottle holder which will accomplish the results sought as the object of our invention, and which is useful, convenient and well suited to our purpose.
Having, therefore, described our invention, what we claim and desire 'to secure by Letters Patent, is:
forming end bottom portions to said receptacles; a longitudinal extension to said top forming a back between said ends and an in turned portion of said back forming an intermediate bottom spaced from said end bottom portions, and ledges to underlie and engage said end bottom portions; a narrowed extension of said top forming a front and engaging the intermediate bottom of said receptacle, and ears" formed from integral portions of said back, the same comprising a hollow article having openings in the front and provided with a slotted bottom, the slots thereof flaring outwardly and registering with said front openings, substantially as set forth.
