[application filed April $21, 1916;
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that l, Isaaclltavrosolv a citizen of the United States residing at Albert Lea, in the county of 'Freehorn,
1 State of Minnesota have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Coupling- Bolts; and I do hereby declare the following to he a full, clear and exact description the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same This invention relates to coupling holts.
The ohject of the invention is to provide a coupling holt embodying an improved construction whereby desired members may he coupled and uncoupled with ease and facility said holt being particularly adapted for coupling a windmill rod and a pump rod,
"With the alcove and other ohjects in view the invention consists in the details of construction and in the arrangement and cornhination of parts to he hereinafter more fully described and particularly pointed in the appended claim in describing the invention in detail reference will he had to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters of reference denote corresponding parts in the several views, and in which- Figure l is a view in elevation of the improved coupling holt;
2, a similar view tahen right augles what is shown in Fig, 1;
Fig. 3, a section on the line 3-3 of Fig, l, and
a 1g, i, a view in elevation showing a windmill rod and pump rod cou led throuah the medium of the holt Referring to the drawings the improved is shown as comprising a shank hody one end of which terminates in an eye to form a hand piece for convenience in manipulating the The end of the body remote from the hody ll is cut away form a reduced portion l2v a face and to form a shoulder l lo Secured the face is a leaf spring catch catch is inclined outwardly 5L ccification of Letters Patent.

in the direction of the shoulder is and the free end thereof is curved inwardly as 16, the outer terminal of this curved portion to losing always disposed within the limits of the shoulder M.
From the construction just descrihed it will he ohvious that if the bolt is inserted through registering openings of meinhers to he coupled catch 15 will he forced inwardly owing to its inclination until the shoulder 1 is disposed heyond the opening in the adjacent raernher to he coupled when said catch will spring outwardly the position shown in Fig. 2 and act a stop to prevent the holt from hecorningaccidentally displaced. To remove holt it is only necessary topull the same longitudinally in the direction of the eye ll with suliicient force to cause one coupled members to act upon toe cuiwed free end or the catch to force the latter inwardly. In other words the catch 15 does not have to he manually operated either coupling or uncoupling,
What is claimed is:- Y
A coupling holt comprising anintegral straight hody havingone end portion reduced in one direction diametrically of the hotly with a resultant shoulder a leaf spring riveted against the outer end portion of the face of the reduced portion and having its hutt extended. against and across the adjacent end face of the lonely, said leaf? spring extending 'divergingly from the face of the reduced portion a point heyond the "face of the unreduced portion and short of said shoulder and then extending to a point hehind said shoulder wherehy the leaf spring will held against pivotal movement on its rivet the holt may he seated hy hammer hlows against the opposite end of the integral hody inernher,
In testimony whereof, i naysignature, in the presence of two witnesses ISA Ail DAVIDSN @nnrsr Bnsrnnnsoin Cent Dew w tihle
