Be it known that l, RICHARD E. HUMBERT, a citizen of the United States, and a resident oi Montclair, in the county of Essex and State of New Jersey, have invented a new and Improved Toy, otl which the fol'- lou'ing is a full, clear, and exact descrip" tion.

This invention relates to toys and deals particularly with the packing of the toy in such a manner as to display one of its uses, as by utilizing certain of the blocks to represent a figure.

In carrying out the invention the blocks are packed in a container in such a manner that certain of the blocks represent one of the iigures that can be made by the set, and around the ligure are placed partitions which coperate with the walls of the blocks to form compartments in which are placed blocks that are of such size as not to detract from the aspect of the figure while at the same time there is no great waste of space. The figure need not occupy the Jfull length of the box, so that at one end some of the blocks of the set can be closely packed to represent a wall on which the figure appears to be standing.

For a more complete understanding of the invention reference is to be had to the following description and claims taken in connection with the accompanying drawing, which illustrates one embodiment of the invention and wherein similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in both the views, in which- Figure 1 is a plan view of the cartoned toy with the cover removed; and

Referring to the drawing, A designates a box of suitable size and shape, in which the set of blocks is packed. The various blocks 1 are assembled in such a manner as to represent a figure, and these blocks are maintained in assembled relation lby means of partition strips a which loosely fit in the box and contact with the blocks which go to make up the figure and with the walls oi' the box. These partitions cooperate with the sides of the box to form compartments 2 in which can be placed small blocks 3 that form part of the set. These blocks 3 do not lill the various compartments, as this would detract from the conspicuousness of the figure, but by utilizing these compartments in the manner shown, the total size of the carton for the set of blocks is reduced to a minimum. rlhe gure need not extend the full length of the box, so that the remaining blocks 4 of the set can be packed closely together, as at the bottom of the box, so as to resemble a wall on which the figure stands.

The set of blocks packed in this manner is advantageous because it affords the best display of the blocks at a counter, show window or other places, and it indicates immediately the purpose of the set of blocks.

Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent:

1. The combination of a set of blocks, a container therefor, and partitions in the container for maintaining certain of the blocks in assembled relation to represent a ligure.

2. The combination of a set of toy blocks, certain of which are assembled in the form ot a figure, a container for the blocks, and loose strips following the outline of the figure and engaging the walls of the container for maintaining the blocks of the figure in assembled relation.

3.
