To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, (lEoRoE BAEi-IE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Mo- Keesport, in the county of Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania, have invented new and useful Improvements in Electric Switches, of which the following is a full,
clear, concise, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming a part of this specification.
My invention relates to improvements in electric switches or contact-01's.
One object of my invention is to providea switch or contactor which will be compact 1n structure, durable and eflicient 1n opera tion.

, The several parts of the switch are carried by a frame which is preferably cast and is provided with a hollow rectangular portion 1, and two upwardly extending parallel side pieces 2. Extending laterally from the rectangular portion 1 ofthe frame are two lugs 33, and extending laterally from the side pieces 22 are lugs 44. The lugs 3 and 4 provide means whereby the frame may be bolted, or otherwise secured to a suitable supporting panel 5. Mounted within the rectangular portion 1 of theframe, is an electromagnetic winding 6. The winding 6 is preferably wound upon a fiber tube 7 which is provided at its ends with annular flanges 8 -8. The winding- 6 is held in place by a core or plug 9 which extends through an orifice in the top of the '50 rectangular portion 1 of the frame and fits within the fiber tube 7. The core or plug 9 is provided at its end. with an annular flange 10 which rests upon the top of the frame 1. The flange 10 is recessed to receive an elastic buffer 11. Mounted within the fiber tube 7, and arranged to slide freely therein, is a plunger 12 which carries at its upper end a rod 13 of non-magnetic material. The rod 13 extends through the plug 9 and. carries, adjacent to its upper end, a flange or collar 14 which is adapted to bear against the elastic buffer 11 to limit the downward movement of the plunger 12. The upper end 15 of the rod 13 is rounded and works in a cup-shaped recess in a hearing block 16, set into the underside of the contact arm 17. Set into the upper side of the switch arm 17, adjacent to its rear end, is a bearing block 18, the bearing face of. which is. curved and is adapted to bear against a pin 19, supported between the side pieces 2 ofthe frame. Secured tothe front of the rectangular portion 1 of the frame by screws 21, is an insulating block 20 preferably formedof fiber. The upright pieces 2 of the frame carry inwardly extending projections 25 between which the switch arm 17 is free to more vertically, but which prevent lateral movement thereof. Adjacent to its rear end, the arm 17 is provided with a binding-post 26 to which is secured one end of the con-- ductor 27. The opposite end of the conductor 27 is secured to a binding-post 28 carried by the frame and suit-.ilily insulated therefrom. 'The binding-post 28 forms one terminal of the switch. The arm 1-7 carries a main contact plate 29 which is preferably secured thereto byscrew s 30. At its forward end, the arm 17 'is provided with bifurcated portions 31 which are curved to form a ring. The various parts of this contactor may be readily removed and replaced.
