Be it known that ll, JAMES F. THoMAs,
a citizen of the United States, residing at Clarinda, in the county of Page and State of Iowa, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Bust-Developers; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same. i.
This invention relates to improvements in developing devices of that class used in developing, enlarging, and strengthening the parts of the body and morepmticularly to bust developers.
The main object of the invention is to provide a device of this character so constructed as to produce a double contact stimulation whereby a very rapid developmentof the bust is efi'ected.
Another object is to provide a bust developer having a nipple applicator constructed to apply a suitable cream or salve and to be brought into operation after the bust has been expanded to the desired extent to cause an erectile stimulation of the nipple which indicates that the proper blood circulation in the parts has been produced.
With these and other objects in view, the
invention consists of certain novel features of construction, and the combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter fully described and claimed.

signed to fit snugly against the users body at the base of the breast to insure an air tight connection and to completely incase the breast to be treated.
A rubber bulb 3 is connected with the cups by a flexible pipe 4 connected at one end with the bulb 3 by the usual valve 5 and at its other end is bifurcated or branched as shown at 6 and 7, and these branches 6 and 7 have valved connection with the pipe 4, as will be hereinafter more fully described.
Vent valves 10 are arranged in the pipes (3 and 7 at points adjacent their connection with tubes 8 and 9 and these valves are here shown in the form offiaps cut out from each of the pipes 6 and 7 and which are arranged on the iinder side thereof so that when the rubber bulb 3 hangs down these tubes will be straight as shown in Fig. 3, which automatically closes the valves, and as long as the tubes remain in this position with the bulb hanging down the valves will remain closed. These flaps 10 have their side edges diverging rearwardly from their vacuum in the cups. By making these flap valves, which are formed by cuttingthem from the tubes so that when closed they will fit snugly within the openings from which they are cut, in the form above described with broad fiat heads, apertures sufiiciently large will be provided on the opening of said valves to quickly admit air and relieve the suction in the cups. I (See Fig. 4.)
The bulb 3 is provided at its outer end with the usual valve 11 such as is employed in devices of this character. A three-way valve 12 is located at the junction of the branch pipes 6 and 7 with the main tube 4.- and is mounted in a cylindrical casing 13' having three tubular nipples 14 radiating therefrom and with which the tubes 4, 6 and 7 are engaged. The valve 12 is so constructed that it may be turned in said casing to afford communication between both of the tubes 6 and 7 and the main tube 4 when desired, as shown in Fig. 4, and on the further turning thereof in one direction or the other will operate to cut off, communication of one of said tubes with the main tube and with the other tube. By so arranging this valve 12, air may be cut off from one branch tube while the cup of the other tube is being adjusted over the breast and then cut off from that side while adjusting the remaining cup.
After these cups have been so adjusted, both pipes 6 and 7 are placed in communication with the main pipe so that suction will be simultaneously produced in both cups, although obviously one cup only may be employed if found desirable, Arranged within each of the cups 1 and 2 is a nipple applicator and manipulator in the form of a small glass cup 15 of a shape and size to fit over the nipple of a breast and which has at its free edge a flange 16 which fits snugly against the breast at the base of the nipple.
A oove 17 is arranged around the inner face of this cup 15- at its junction with the flange 16 and is designed to receive and retain a cream or salve to be applied to the nipple. These cups 15 are attached at their upper inner ends to the flexible tubes 8 and 9 which are slidable in the ends of cups 1 and 2 and are provided with outwardly opening valves 18 which are opened by the actuation of bulb 3. These cups 15 are designed to be drawn up against the top of the cups 1 and 2 when the developer is placed in position on the breast, and they are allowed to remain in this position until after the air has been pumped out of the cups 1 and 2 sufliciently to expand 'the bust to the desired extent. After this expansion has occurred the cups 15 are moved inward over the nipples and a second contact is made with the breast, thereby drawing the nipples into the cups 15. This nipple applicator in addition to applying the cream or salve contained in the grooves thereof, effects a psychological'nerve stimulation that results ina rapid development of the bust. J
This double contact formed by the cups 1,
2 and 15 produces an erectile stimulation of the nipple of the breast which shows that the proper blood circulation has been produoed in the various parts.
By the arrangement of the valves above described, the flow of blood may be regulated by compressing the bulb 3, the valves operating to preventing too much force being employed upon the delicate tissues of the breast. Moreover, the cups 1, 2 and 15 are preferably constructed of glass so that the operation of the device may be observed therethrough and according to the appearance of the breast the operator may vary the treatment to produce the desired and neces- This bust developer is what may be termed a physical culture device. and accomplishes for the undeveloped bust what a course of body building does for the whole body, expanding the flaccid muscles and shrunken tissues and giving them a healthful circula tion of rich red blood that will bring excellent results in even the most obstinate cases.
I claim 1. In a device of the class described, a pair of suction cups arranged one within the other, and suction producing means connected with said cups whereby first one and then the other may be brought into operation, and a part and its surrounding area first distended to the desired extent'and then said part further distended independently of its surrounding area.
2. The combination of a pair of cups arranged one within the other, an air exhaust pipe extending through the closed end of the outer cup and having an air tight sliding engagement therewith, said pipe carrying the inner cup and opening into it through its closed end, whereby the air may be first exhausted from the outer cup for expanding the breast and then the inner cup engaged with the nipple and the air exhausted therefrom, and means connected with'said pipe for exhausting the air from said cups.
3. A bust developer comprising a breast encircling cup having an aperture in its closed end, a tube mounted to slide in air tight relation in said aperture, a nipple incasing cup mounted in the firstmentioned cup and carried by said tube, said nipple converging, forming a flexible valve having a narrow neck with a wide head adapted to open and close on the raising and lowering of the bulb forming a large aperture when opened for quickly relieving the suction in the cup. v
