7 A hollow handle 2O is tapered for a portion off its length to provide a reduced end to'he'engaged with the threads 18 on the 'so'ap reservoir 17 above the body l, the larger ondof the handle being closed by the aredf'end. of the soap reservoir, while the portion of the handle 2O at its 'flair' "r end is exteriorly threaded as at 21 '25 throughout its length.
. ,A cap 22 for closing the enlarged end of thihandle l has aperipheral flange 23 intelirl oai. on the brush handle, said cap` e0 bemg 'provided with an opening 24 in which is mounted the stern of ajsocket member 2G. The end' of the stem 25 which extends Jabove the top of the cap 22 is threaded to receive a head 27 in which is mounted a ring $6 28 by means of which the brush may be con nected with a support.
A follower 2 9. is positioned Within the soap reservoir 17 and has connected therewith one end of' a ooi led expansion spring- 30, the other end of which is provided with av ball 31 reeeiyed in the socket 26 on the :stern` 25 in the cap 22.
When it is desired to lill the soap reservoir 1,7. Shaving cream, Y0111i uid Soap may nonr 4'5 -threaded end" of the handle 20 and 'the fol- .lower 29' removed from the soap reservoir Shaving cream or li uid soap may now ,be poured into the tubu ar portionof the' .soap reservoir with the flared portion 19 15in Lz of; the reservoir 'assisting in directing the soap. into the reservoir, the followerv Vmay hrefaded for engagenient'with the now "he replaced within the soap; reservoir and the cap 22 connected with the threaded end of the handle.
The brush is now ready for use and when the bristles have been mostenei'l with Water,A
pressure upon the button -14 will operate the slide valve l1 and lo allow a portion of the soap to 'be expelled from the reservoir 17 through the extension 3 and into the bristles of the brush by means of the spring pressed follower 29.
l'Vhen a considerable quantit of soap has been removed in this' manner rom the soap reservoir it may be found necessary to inJ crease the pressure exerted upon the follower by the spring 30 and to accomplish this result, it is only necessary to adjust the cap 22 on 'the threaded end of the handle 20, it being noted that when the cap is turned, the spring and follower are pre vented from turning through the connection of the spring with the stem 25.
rom the foregoing statements, taken in connection with the aoeolnpanyng drawing it is at onoe apparent that a fountain shav ing brush has been provided which is si1nple in construction, therefore inexpensive of manufacture, yet highly efficient in use.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new is:
A brush of the cla-ss described comprising a body, a handle lx ving an open end, aV soap reservoir received 'Within the handle and eonneetedrtherewith and with the body, a Haz-ed end on the soap reservoir closing the open end of the handle, a follower Within the soap reservoir, a. cap threadedly engnged with. the handle and closing the flared end of the soap reservoir, a stern mounted to turn in said cap 'and provided -with a socket, and a spring within the Soap reservoir having one end connected With the follower and its other end providedv with a ball received in said socket.
In testimony whereof I aliix my signature in presence of twowitnesses.
