CONCRETE-STEP MOLD.

To all whom it may concern.
Be it known that I, Trrorras H. BALDWIN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Beaumont, in the county of Jefferson and State of Texas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Concrete-Step Molds, of which the following is a specification, reference being bad therein to the ac companying drawing.
This invention relates to a mold which is intended to be used for molding the various parts necessary in order to produce a flight of steps. The principal object of the invention is to provide a mold which can be easily set-up and taken to pieces and which is so constructed that it may be readily adjusted to regulate the length of the mold.
Another object of the invention is to so construct the mold that the various pieces formed will be provided with tongues and grooves which will interlock in such a manner that the steps will be very strong and not liable to very easily come to pieces after be ing set-up.
With these and other objects in view, this invention consists of certain novel combinations, constructions and arrangements of parts as will be hereinafter fully described and claimed.
This invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein Figure 1 is a top plan view of the mold.
Fig. 2 is a longitudinal sectional view through the mold shown in Fig. 1.
Fig. 3 is a transverse sectional view through the mold shown in Fig. 1.
Fig. 4 is a fragmentary sectional view through the mold shown in Fig. 1.

Fig. 6 is a perspective view of a dividing plate forming a portion of the mold shown in Fig. 1.
Fig. 7 is a perspective view ofa strip used in the mold shown in Fig. 1 and forming a stop for a sliding door as shown in Fig. 4.
In the drawing there has been shown a form of mold in which there is provided a pallet 37 having abutment flanges 38 at its ends. The end walls 39 are placed upon the pallet and are held close against the abutments 38 by the pins 40 which also form pivot pins whereby the side walls 41 and 42 can be pivotally connected to the end walls. It should be noted that these side walls are Specification of Letters Patent.

provided with curved ends 43 so that these side walls can be swung open to the dotted line position shown in Fig. 1. It is desired to have the block formed in this mold provided with an opening in one side and, therefore, the strip 44 which carries the upright 45 has been put within the mold upon the pallet 37 and adjustably held in place by a set-screw 46 which passes through a slot 47. An angle strip 48 is mounted in the slot 47 and extends beneath the strip 44 so that the screw 46 may engage the strip 48 and thus the sliding movement of the strip 44 limited in one direction. By having the strip 44 limited in one direction the strip can be more readily held in an adjusted position, thereby doing away with any danger of the strip slipping and causing an opening in the block to be formed in the wrong place. A partition 49 is placed within the mold and is provided with a handlebar 50 which is provided with tongues 51 forming slots in the handle so that the partition may be rigidly held in an adjusted position, as shown in Fig. 2 and thus the sizes of the blocks formed in the mold regulated. If it is desired to have the block so formed, a frame 52 can be placed within the mold. A rod 53 is provided so that the frame may be easily handled when placing it within the mold or withdrawing it from the block which has been formed in the mold. This frame forms a large opening in the block and thus causes the weight of the block to be greatly reduced. This mold is operated in a similar manner to the other, the cement being poured into the mold after the partition 49 and strip 44 have been adjusted. As soon as the cement has set, the frame 52 can be removed and then the side walls 41 and 42 can be swung open and the block removed from the mold.
It should be understood that the block 44 illustrated in Fig. 1 is adapted to be used for making a housing in the block for re ceiving the riser and tread of the step when the step is in an assembled position.
