STOVE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Mar. 13, 1917.
Application filed October 12, 1915. Serial No. 55,522.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, SAMUEL D. BLACK- BURN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Lansdale, in the county of Montgomery and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Stoves; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same. Y
This invention relates to stoves, and has for its primary object to generally improve and render more etlicient water heating pipes of stoves.
With this and other objects'in view, the invention consists in the novel construction, arrangement and formation of parts as will be hereinafter specifically described, claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which:
Figure 1 represents a side elevation of the improved stove,
Fig. 2 represents a vertical central sectional view therethrough, partly in side elevation,
Fig. 3 represents a transverse sectional View on the line 3-3 of Fig. 2, 4
Fig. 4 represents a top plan view of the grate, and support therefor removed,
Fig. 5 represents a transverse sectional view through the support removed, and
Fig. 6 represents a side elevation of the grate removed from the support, partly in section.
I Referring to the drawings in detail, wherein similar reference numerals designate corresponding parts throughout the several views, the numeral 5 indicates the cylindrical body of the stove under which is arranged the ash pit 6. A fuel magazine 7 is supported in-concentrically spaced relation to the upper open end of the cylindrical body 5 by a plurality of spacing elements or arms 8. The upper extremity of the magazine 7 is enlarged, as at 9, and provided with a removable cover 10, and the lower end thereof terminates in spaced relation above a rotatable brace 11 supported upon an annular supporting member 12, having a plurality of depending lugs 13 engaged in straps or loops 14 secured to the inner surface of the cylindrical body 5. The brace 11 includes a depending shaft 15. a plurality of radiating brace bars 16 and ahandle 17 secured to the lower extremity of the shaft 15 and projecting through a slot formed in the lower portion of'the cylindrical body 5,,whereby the brace 11 may be oscillated. The annular brace supporting member or frame 12 is provided with a plurality of integral U-shaped members 18 of less width than the space between the radiating brace bars 16 and of less length than the latter andadapted to cooperate therewith in supporting the fire. I
A casing 19 is supported in concentrically spaced relation to the cylindrical body 5 and the top 20 thereof is spaced from the upper edge ofthe-b'ody to provide a passage 21 for the products of combustion from the fire pit 22. The products of combustion are exhausted from the interior of the casing 19 byafiue23.
The portion of the cylindrical body 5 disposed within the casing 19 constitutes the inner wall of an annular drum or water chamber 24, the upper extremity of which is disposed in spaced relation to the top 20 of the casing, and the lower end thereof is supported upon the bottom of the latter.
In use, the fire is supported uponthe grate 11 and the heated products of combustion resulting from the combustion of fuel in the fire pit 22 are directed upwardly between the magazine 7 and'body 5, downwardly between the inner and outerwater chambers 24 receptacle, and engaging the lower portion eptacle and positioned above the e of said receptacle, a plurality of necting said inner and outer reand supporting said outer receprnony whereof I affix my signature :e of two witnesses.

dressing the Commissioner of Patents,
thereof, said casing having a central opening in the top portion thereof, an outer water receptacle positioned in said casing in concentric relation thereto, the top portion of said outer water receptacle engaging said casing forming an additional support therefor, a plurality of pipes connecting the water receptacle and forming a support for said outer water receptacle, magazine positioned in said central opening in said casing and extending into said body, and a grate supported by said body below said magazine.
2. A stove including a body having an open upper end, the top portion of said body being bent outwardly and bent at right angles and then downwardly parallel to said body and then inwardly in contact with the lower portion of said body forming a water receptacle, an outer annular water receptacle arranged in concentric relation to said inner water rec lower edgi pipes con: ceptacles tacle, an body belo cured to t jacent the closing th water rece casing res said outer positioned spider.
