rIlie invention relates to folding beds Iand particularly to such beds which are adapted to fold upwa'rd on a horizontal axis 'and be foldedinto or moved ypinto" a closfit or recess.

An object of the invention is toprovide .a folding bed which when folded is of 1"i'iini-, muni depth, and this is accomplished without ,sacrificing :in iY of the room or space necessary for the reception of the mattress, bed clothes and pillows.

Arranged at opposite sides oi' the bed inthe angle between the side rails and the head frame are brackets S) on which occur pins 12 which are disposed above the plane of the side rails when the bed traine is inthe horizontal position. Each pin engages a stationary guide 13, which is preferably iornied integral with the lug 7. rlhe guide is provided with a shoulder 14 `adjacent its Vupper end on which the pin l2 seats when the bed frame is horizontal, thereby locking the traine in such position. inclined backwardly at such anangle that when the bed frame reaches the vertical position the upper end 'of the fixed head, or that end to which the head trarne is pivoted, lies almost in contact with the rear wall of the recess, thereby eliminating any 'waste room. When the bed is in the vertical position, the links (3 are substantially vertical and do not extend beyond the bed rails, thereby causing no waste of room at the front of the folded bed.

The movement of the head frame 5 and its position when stationary is controlled by the link 15, pivoted at one end to the head frame, and at the other end to an arm or extension loon the link 6.
