To all lwhom it may concern:
Be it lrnown that I, WILLIAM W. BoNsoN, citizen or" the United States, residing at Dubuque, in the county of Dubuque and State of Iowa, have invented certain new aud useful Improvements in Attachments tor Dry Ore-Separators, ot which the following is a specication.
Great difficulty has been experienced in the separation or concentration of ore arising from the fact that the mass to be separated from dierent mines and also in the same mine contains widely different percentages of values requiring different means for making the separation or different manipulation of devices for that purpose.
The object of my invention is to provide an attachment to the dry ore separator patented by me on the 3rd day of January 1911 and numbered 980,891; and it consists substantially in a table having a mesh and divided into two parts, on one of which parts the mass to be separated is received, and from the other side the separated ore is taken. It further consists in providing the whole table with ore rittles set diagonally to the movement of the table and in placing on these ore ril-hes, over the receiving side of the table, adjustable gangue deflectors s et at an angle to the ore rifles, and 'in means for adjusting the gangue deflectors.
In the following specification, taken with the drawings, will be :t'ully described the manner of constructing the device, together with the mode of operation whereby the objects sought may be accomplished.
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the table. Fig. 2 is a side view of an adjustable gangue detlector and a cross section of a number of the ore riflies. Fig. 3 is a vertical section on a line wof Fig. 2. Fig. l is a perspective view, enlarged of the adjustable gangue deflectors and ore riffles and mode 01": making the adjustment.
As the construction of the table together with the manner of supplying air for the separation and the means by which the table is reciprocated may be the same as in the before mentioned patent, and since they form no part of my present invention they are not described herein.
Referring to the drawings, 2 designates the table and 4 the mesh upon the table. Upon this mesh are placed at short distances apart ore ritfles 5 (shown in these drawings as set at an angle to the table)v providing Patented Jan., 3G, 1917.

runways between the riiies. Upon the top of the ore ritlles are placed the gangue delectors 6 each of which consists ot a bar 7 and plate 8. The bar 7 extends across the riiiles 5 at an angle thereto and rests thereon. The plate 8 is provided with grooves or recesses 10 of the size of the riiiles 5 and is adapted to be adjusted down to or nearly to the mesh on the table and placed parallel and in contact with the bars 7. In order to adjust this plate substantially in a vertical manner it is supplied with an opening 12 in which one end of a springlil is adapted to engage, the other end of said spring is rigidly fastened to the bar 7 side.
The manner of operating this device is substantially as follows: Power is applied to the table and the air is turned on against the under side of the table and passes up through the mesh and the mass is delivered upon the upper end of the table. The reciprocating motion of the table with the current of air up through, will immediately stratify the mass and deliver the ore in the runways 15 between the ore rittles 5 and the gangue above the ore and between the gangue detlectors 6, then the operator watches the mass and estimates about the percentage of ore that there is in the mass and if it is ore of great values, he leaves the plate 8 just level with the top of the ore riiiies 5 but if it be of a small percentage then he takes hold of the spring 14k and forces down the plate 8 with the ore riihes 5 in the recesses 10 near the mesh on the table and if the ore increases in values he raises the plate 8 in the same manner. It will be seen that the plate 8 is raised or lowered just as the values increase or diminish, always permitting all of the ore to pass along under the plate 8 and the gangue over the riltles 5 and over the ore to one side of the table and very little will pass under the plates 8. It will also be seen that when there is a small percentage of the values in the mass and the plates 8 are adjusted down close to or nearly to the mesh, that only a small amount ot' the gangue will be carried along in the runways 15.
Having now described my invention what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1. In a dry ore separator, a divided table having a receiving side and a delivery side, a mesh upon the table, ore riffles on the mesh,
on the opposite adjustable gangue deliectors set upon the orc rilies at an angle thereto on the receiving side of the table, and means for adjusting the gangue deiectors relative to the mesh on the table.
2. ln a dry o re separator, a table, a mesh on the table, ore riiles set on the mesh, gangue defiectors set on the ore rittles and each consisting of a bar secured upon the vore riffles and a plate, said plateprovided with recesses lin one edge, and means for adjusting said plate relative to the surface or" the table.
3. In a dry ore separator, a table, ore
