Description

MNARD Y. HOLLEY,
Improvement n Teiegraph insulators.
Patented Nov. 28,1871..

PHG
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
MINARD Y. HOLLEY, OF WASHINGTON, DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA.
IMPROVEMENT IN TELEGRAPH-INSULATORS.
To all whom t 'may concern:
Be it known that I, MINARD Y. HOLLEY, of Tashington District of Columbia, have invented an Improvement in Telegraph Insulators, of which the following is a specification:
My improvement consists in constructing insulators, of glass or other non-conducting substance, of a triangular form, thereby presenting only three points of contact to the line and attaching-Wire, and, consequently7 saving a large amount of surface contact and a corresponding decrease in escape or leakage of the electric current in damp or Wet Weather.
The accompanying' drawing-in which Figure l represents a perspective view, and Fig. 2 a View of the under side of the insulator-shows the nature of the improvement.
In Fig. l, A A A represent the insulator; D D, the line-Wire; O O, the Wire that attaches the line-Wire to the insulator. E E E represent the notches in which the line and attachmentwires rest. B represents the aperture for the support.
Fig. 2 represents a view of the under side of the insulator with the line-wire attached. d l represents the line-wire 5 c c c, the Wire attachment, c a a, the point of contact, and B, the aperture for the support.
I claim as my invention- A telegraph-insulator having the triangular form, as and for the purpose set forth.
MIN ARD Y. HOLLEY.
