To @ZZ cli/icm irl may concern it known that if, Rnorrnxno L Frissen- DEN, of Brookline, in the county oi Norfolk tric lilachinery, of which the foilowingis e' specification.
The invention herein described relates to electro dynamic apparatus and methods and to the generation, the ntirizotion. the trans'- niission and the receipt of electric energy and more particularly to the production and detection or compressionol Waves, and still more particularly to' submarino signaling.
It has for its object increased eliciency in these lines.
This application 1s :i division of the ap- A plication iled hy me whim matured into Let-ters Patent Nef ,167,366, issned Jannw ary 4, 1916, which vos :i division of my application Serial No. 744.793, file/.i January e9, i913.
The invention wiil be understood more particularly by reference. to the drawings.
in which it is shown in its preferred embodiment.
in the drawings Figure l is ai diagrammatic cross section or :i reciprocating dynamo capable of being' nseci inJv carrying out my invention. Fig. 2 illustrates the application oi' o gos engine to such dynamo.
A suitobie form of apparatus for carrying out this invention is shown in Fig. Here 40 is a copper tube soy approximately eight inches in diameter and eight inches long (the length being' preferably equal to or less than' the diameter). is the magnetizing coii of the magnetic circuit, 113-413 being the north pole and lli-14 being thl south pole. The'magnetic flux Hows from 43-i3 through the top air gap to the armature or core 4l, thence through the bottom air we and hack t irough the outside ring',n to t3- Thetnoe 40 lies in the two air gaps and such part of it as is not over the. windings 46, is preferably slotted as at or otherwise marie of high resistance. The windings #5.6. i? are preferably Wound on the core il though they may be Wound the insirle of the poles 43 i3, M -44. 'The core ii anci the poles ere preferably slo #.rceliy and reclieliy Specification of Lettere Patent.
