Be it known that I, FRANK MAYCOMBER,

a citizen of the United States, residing at South Jacksonville,in the county'of Duyal 5 and State of Florida, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Bath-Tub Attachments, of whichthe following is a specification, reference being had to the ac-- companying' drawings.

for its primaryobject to provide improved means for supplying water tothe bath tub wherein the water is delivered into. the tub in divergent streams over the bottom surface thereof so that all sedimentary matter ma be washed therefrom and removed;

It is an additional object of the invention to provide a vertically movable overflow pipe formed at its lower endwitha valve or closure for the drain or outlet pipe.- I

It is still another object of the invention to provide a water supply means for bath tubs, lavatories and the like, wherein the water is supplied to or drained from the tub through the same opening or port;

It is afurther general object of my invention to provide a plumbing fixture of the character stated which is simple and inexpensive in its construction, may be easily adapted and applied to the ordinarylbath tub and will materially add to the neat and attractive appearance ofthe same.

20 and 21 are laterally projected at an oblique angle and flared, as shown at 24c and 25 respectively, to form spray nozzles. The open ends of these flared or flat spray nozzles are opposed to the opposite ends of the slot 19 in the end wall of the tub. Each of the

20 and 21, where it enters the upper end of the boxing 6, is provided with a cut-off valve 26 and 27 having a suitable operating rod 28 and 29 extending through the wall ofthe boxing 6.

It is to be particularly noted that when the pipe 9 is in its normal position, the upper end thereof is disposed some distance below the valves 26 and 27 so that the water will overflow into the up erend of said pipe before reaching said valves or the opening 16. Thus, the necessity of employing packing glands or other water-tight connections is avoided.

In the operation of theinvention, when it is desired to clean the bottom of the tub, the chain 15 is pulled in the manner above explained, to raise the overflow pipe 9 and disengage the lower end 10 thereof from the nipple 7 The valves 26 and 27 will now be opened and the water ejected from the angularly disposed

24 and 25 through the opposite ends of the slot or port 19.] The water will thus be sprayed outwardly directly upon and over the bottom surface of the tub and toward th'esides thereof to thoroughly clean the same and remove any sedimentary matter adhering thereto. The water will then flow inwardly toward the center of the tub and outwardly through the central portion of the slot or port l9 and through the nipple 7 to the dram plpe 8. In order to fill the tub,-the pipe 9' is lowered so as to close the nipple 7 and the hot or cold water supply, or both, are turned on. Thetub will gradually fill, as well as the boxing or'housing 6, and all splashing or noise is obviated, which is one of the disadvantages of the usual supply faucets mounted in the tub wall'at the top thereof. When the water risesin theboxing 6'to the top thereof, the overflow will be carried off by the pipe 9 to the drain 8. To

empty'the tub, the pipe 9 is lifted or moved water to the tub and draining the same through a single port or opening, it will be appreciated that the expense incident to the application of the supply fixtures to the tub is materially reduced, and considerable more room is afforded in the tub by the elimination of the projecting faucets-on the end wall thereof.

A tub provided. with my invention will also present a much neater and more attractive appearance. F or the purposes of illustration, 1 hve disclosed the device in the accompanying drawing applied to a bath tub, but it is, of course, manifest that by resorting to obvious expedients and mechanical alterations within the knowledge of a skilled plumber, the device can also be applied to lavatories and like toilet conveniences. It is also to be understood that while I have shown and described the preferred construction and arrangement of the several parts, the same are nevertheless susceptible of considerable modification and T, therefore, reserve the privilege of adopting all such legitimate changes as may be fairly embodied within the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed.

Having thus described this invention, what is claimed is I 4 1. The combination with abath tub having a common inlet and outlet opening in one of its end walls at the lower end thereof, of a vertically .disposed housing exteriorly fixed to said end wall, said opening communicating with the lower end of the housing, a drain pipe connection at the lower end of said housing, a manually operable valve to close said drain'pipe, and water supply pipes extending into the housing and provided with discharge nozzles to eject streams in divergent directions through the opening in the wall of the tub.

2. The combination with a bath tub having a slot in one of its end walls at the upper surface of the bottom of the tub, of a vertically vdisposed housing exteriorly fixed upon said end wall, a drain pipe connection at the lower end of said housing, said slot communicating with the interior of the housing, water supply pipes extending into the housing,said pipes being provided with discharge nozzles opposed to the opposite ends of said'slot to eject water into the tub,

and a manually operable valve member to open or close the drain pipe connection.

3. The combination with a bath tub having a slot in one of its end walls at the upper surface of the bottom ofthe tub, of a vertically disposed housing exteriorly fixed upon said end wall, a drain pipe connection "at the lower end of said housing, said slot communicating with :the interior of the housing, water supply pipes extending'into the housing, said pipes being provided with discharge nozzles opposed to. the opposite ends of said slot to eject water into the tub,
