'Ihe operation is as follows: The box H is filled Wi11h eyelets, ancl the latter a1e b1ushed through 11he aper1mres 111 1;he side of 1;he said box 111115il the inelinecl ohannel of the ourved bar J is filled. (See Figs. 6 and 7.) A shoe is then 1aid and hold up0n the sliding work-tabl'e G by the attendant, W110 then ope1ates 1311e treaclle. Ab the firs1s desoent of 13he punoh e an eyelet-hole Will be 01113 in'1she shoe, a11d as s0o11 as the said punoh has ascended 1;he sliding table and i13s serrated plate Will move forward a given distanoe. carrying the work beneath a small roller, w, whieh holds it (l0W11 1:0 ohe tab1e. The punoh Will then again descencl, outting a seoond eyelethole, and the work-table Will 1110ve back 110 its original position, the serratecl plate being clepressed so as 11013 130 draw back the W0rk. 'Ihe puneh Will then asoend, and the work-table anal work Will loe again fed forwarcl preparatory to the pu11ohing of a third hole. As the work is thus fecl forward it will be oar1iecl between the pnnohes s and s, ancl over 1;he eyelet-holding fingert, an eyelet being droppecl from the la1ster onto the puneh s, so 15ha13 when ol1e latter is lifted shnultaneously With the deseending of the punoh t0 01113 a thi1'd hole the eyelet 011 t-he same may be oarriecl upward through 1:he first hole out in ehe shoe a11d oompressed over the same against the under side of the head x, 011t0 Whi0h the yielding punoh s is fixed. Prior 130 the lifting of the puneh s, however, ehe ourve l sliding bar J a11d i1;s finger t are withdrawn so as 11011 130 interfere with 1:he eompressing of the eyelet. When these several operations are compleued, and while the punohes still re1:ain their hold up011 the sl1oe, the sliding work-table Gr is clrawn back, after whioh the punohes are withdrawn, and 13110 ourved bar J a11d its finger t oarry another eyele1; d0w11 and drop 113 01110 the puneh s. Ihe work is the11 again fed forward, a11d a fourth hole is punohed a11d 1:he seconcl eyelet eompressecl, the punehed holes being iuvariably' brought opposite to the eyeleting-punohes, and the W01k being tl1us 0011- tinuecl With the greate'st rapiclity u111;1l 1;he desi1ed number of holes has been punohed and eyeletecl.
I claim l. The oombination of the sliding box G, 0211- rying Withil1 it a feeding dev1'oe, operating sub sta11tially as desoribed, the post e or its equiva lent, and the eutting and punohing clevioes, substantially as set forth.
2. The two Sets of punohes e e a11d s s, and the sliding platform G, so operated 111 respeot so eaoh other 13ha1; the punohes shall re111ai11 111 coutaot Wih ancl hold the W01k during the rearward movement of the sai l platforn1.
3. The oombination a11d arrangement, substantially as herein deso1ibed, ofthe sliding platform G, its reoessed arm z" aoted 011 by a spring and oarrying the serrated plae i, the pivoted flog k, a11d the pi11 7c of the ost e.
4. 'Ihe combination of 1;he said sliding platfo1m a11d its feeding devioes, a scroll-oam, h, a11d a lever, g, substantially in the manner deseribed.
5. Tl1e 00111b111a131011 of 13he eyelet-feecling and oompressing deviees, a weighted lever, q, the (le v'1oes oounected therewioh or their equivalents, and a treadle, F, arranged, substantially as desoribed, so as 110 operae 1zhe other portions of the maohine.
