'at the top is illustrated a portion of a strip on which this has occurred, and it will be readily seen that it is impossible to follow with certainty the paths-of the separate curves. For this reason it has already been proposed to render the diagrams or curves more easily distinguishable by the use of different colors. The methods hitherto devised have, however, been very complicated particularly Where more than two colors have been employed; the reason being that the color-bearing bodies are on the same side of the recording strip as the marking, point. Hence they have required to be inserted between the latter and the paper7 and consequently have occupied, when more than two in number, a considerable amount ot' space, thus causing some difficulty in changing the paper.
According to' the present invention, the magnitudes of various circuits may be recorded on the same strip by means of a sirnple measuring' instrument, in such a manner as to be clear and easily readable. The color bearing bodies are arran ed on the side of the paper remote from-t ie marking point and autonnitically change positions in definite order. Electric apparatus for other purposes in which the recording is similarly eiiected on the reverse side of the paper to the marking point, are well-known. The attempt has moreover already been made in instruments of this kind, to render the records or diagrams distinguishable either by making them inherently different, or by changing' the type. (of. But by these means, the object or' this invention. namely the production of a considerable number of easily distinguishable curves, cannot be fully attained, not only because they are constructed for a single color only, but because they are inca@ pablo oi registering eurves which intersect -each other according to variations in the magnitudes.

Now what I claim is 1. In recording apparatus, means to produce. by means of a` single marking device imp'inging upon a common strip arranged between the` said marking device and the color bearing body, records or diagrams relating to several electric currents, and wherein a number of differently colored 10o pads or the like are in succession automat-icallv brought beneath the marking device.

In an apparatus for recording characteristics of plurality of electric circuits, a single marking device whose actuation is Ilo-5 controllable by each of said circuits, a series of movable color-bearing bodies. one color for cach circuit, means for bringing' a particular one of the color-bearing bodies t0 position adjacent the marker when' the 110 marker is actuated by the circuit corresponding to that color, and a record sheet passing between the marker and the colorbearing bodies.
