ent kinds and sizes may be interchangeably.
s arated and displayed and secured to a la Llding, sign post or other support with a minimum of injury to said support.
,ilL `further object oli the invention is to prta'idc a sign which is simple of construction, capable of being manufactured and sold yat 'i comparatively low cost, which will hold the sign spaced from the support, and which will securely clainp signs of different sizes.
The invention consists of the features of 'fnnstruction, combination and arrangement ci parts herein fully described and claimed, reference being had to the accompanying thawing in which tlure l is a liront elevation of the iniprfrved sign holder. Fig. 2 is a side eleva tion ot' the same. Fig. 3 is a vertical longitudinal section.
.ln carryingl .my invention into practice., l provide a hraeliet member l, cni'nprising; a comparatively long; and narrow plate hav-- ing a substantially dat lood-y portion Q, which body portion is irovided with terminal apertured ears 3 for the passage olf 'fnstenings to secure the bracket to wall or other support, and citiset portions fl connecting said cars with the bracket body. T will be ob- ,it served that these offset portions dispose the bod;T portion nl the bracket so as to stand ont from the wall or other support, allowing" the sign to be applied and removed with facility, while at the saine time spacing;l the sign from the, wall or other support to rcduce liabilit)7 of injiuwv to the latter to the minimum.
The bracket body 2 is provided with a lonc'itiulinally extending' slot .7, and mounted upon the said bracket body, at right aniles thereto in parallel relation to each other, are, holding` bars or strips 6 and 7 having' longitudinalli1 `ojeom'erl or channeled inner iaees 9. which grooves or channels are designed to receive and hold the longitudinal edges of the sign proper 9.
It will., of course, be understood that the parts oit the holder may be made o! any dcsired size, and,` as shown, one of the bars,
as the'bar t3, is provided with a lug l() for the passage ot a rivet or other fastening 1l, which also passes through one end of the body 2 and rigidly tastens the har 6 in position. The other har is also provided with an apcrtured lng 12 for the passage of a bolt 13, and this bolt i3 extends through the slot 5 and is slidahle in said slot, whereby the bar l is adjustable toward and roin'the bar 6 so as to properly dispose said bars tor lwldingl signs oi dili'erent widths. The bolt i i3 is provided with a wing nut 14C for clainping the adjilstablc bar in adjusted position at any point alone; the length of the slot 5.
lt will thus bc seen that the holder may be secured to a suitable support and that it is adapted to detachably hold metal or other signs of different sizes to displaj. the same in an eli'ective manner, as well as to permit oit' the removal oi the signs and substitution of others as desired. Furthermore, it will be seen that the device provides for the display of signs Without iirinring or. defacing a wall or other support, other than is nece sary for the passage of the fastenings which secure the bracket in place. The device is thus a lapted especially for displaying signs upon municipal and other buildings, etc., or wherever it is desired to display signs without injuring or defacing the building or support to any appreciable extent.
l claimt A sign holding' device comprising a vertically disposed bracket bar having?,` end attaching,a portions, said bar also having a longitudinally extending slot and short iniperli'orate portions between the ends oi' said slot and said attaching' portions, a lower channeled holding bar extending trans versely of said bracket bar and provided with a medial ear, said bar and ear being arranged' to bear against the lower iin-perforate portion of the bracket bar, fastening means passing through said ear and said ilnpcriorate portion oli the bracket bar and rigidly securing' said channeled bar in position. Ian upper channeled holding; bar cxtending transversely across the slotted portihn ol' the, bracket bar and parallel with the first-named channeled bar and also provided 'with a medial ear, the channeled faces ot said bars being` arranged opposite each other and the inner Walls ofthe channels thcreot tid` .channele bar, a clamping nuiy engaging said botg, and. clamping members upon the out@ vmlis of the channels of the channeed bas 10 slamming 'tha edges of a sign. *glam against the 'mner walls of said. channels.
In faestlmony whereof alx my signatur.
