Description

fitti monroe.
HOACJE E. BSEHURE AND EDWARD L. KRAFT, 0F YORK, PENNSYLVANIA.
atenta-Mixen..
Specification of Letters Patent. Patientez@ Diary. 112, 19116..
original application tiled March 22,1915, Serial No. 16,187.' lDivided anzi this application led lffay 23,
' 1916. Serial No.99,424.
To all whom z't may concern:
Be it known that we, HORACE E. BASE- Honn and EDWARD L. KRAFT, citizens of' the United States of America, and residents of York, county of York, State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful improvements in .amalgam-Mixers, of which the following is a full and clear speciication. Y
Our' invention is designedto provide a simple device for mixing dental alloy and mercury after it is measured by the dentist, the object being to provide a device which will quickly and thoroughly `amalgamate these substances, as morefully hereinafter set forth. A i v Figure 1 isa sectional view of a device embodying our invention. Fig. 2 is an end view of the same. y
`0ur device consists, in its preferred form, of a cylindrical tube u closed at each of its ends with a cap o having a close fractional fit on the tube. The inner face of- 'each cap is concaved at w and the outer face of each cap is concaved as at Loosely mounted.
in the tube is a metal weight y slightly elongated and rounded at each end and provided with an annular bead'a about midway` its placed in the tube, the weight is dropped into the'tube'upon the alloy and mercury collected in the lower cup fw. rllhe upper cap is then replaced, and the mixing necessary to bring about the amalgamation is obtained by .sharply shaking the device, the operator holding the cap on by placing his thumb in one of the sockets and his fore finger in the other socket. The shaking of the device causes the Weight to act in the manner of a pestle and the lower one of the cups w to perform the function of a mortar, as is obvious.' After .the mixing 1s com? pleted, the lower cap' containin the amalgam is slipped 0H' the tube, andt e amalgam can then be easily removed from the mortar. It will be observed that it is important that both cups be removable, from the cylinder,
so that the amalgam may be collectedintol either one of them and that one be removed.
This application is a division of our copending application 4Serial No. 16,187, flied March 22, 1915.
Having thus described our inventiomwhat We claim is:
An alloy and mercuryamalgamating device, consisting of an open-ended tube, a cap removably covering each end of the tube and provided in its inner face with a mor.-
` tar-like depression, and a rounded weight mounted to reciprocate freely in said tube,
yfor the purpose set forth.
lin-testimony whereof 'we hereunto ama our signatures this 24th day of April, i916.
' HORACE E. BAS'EHURE.
EDWARD L. KRAFT. Witnesses: DONALD KETTERMAR, Hanni 0g. Het.
