The jaws 6 and 7 may be slightly` resilient if preferred so as to aiiapt themselves to variations inv the size. of the work to be v clamped. The arm 8 may likewise be resilim 110 ent, thereby holding thevwork rmlyi t all times-by a predetermined Y connected with Athe arm 8 1s threaded and receives a. pair of. nuts 15 between which the arm- 8 is held. By properly adjusting the nutsl the position of the arm 8 may be adjusted so that when the work is firmly gripped the operating lever 12 may occupy a position with the link 9 in line with the axis of the hubs 13, thereby I'esultingin the clamp being locked so as -to `prevent casual release ofthe work. This arrangement of the parts. avoids the use of usual means for holding the operating lever 12 in locked position when the clamp is closed to grip the worl. It will be understood that a single operating lever 12 is 4provided for two clamps which ha vean opposite arrangement. One clamp only is connected at a time with the voperatinglever but if preferred the links of opposed clamps may be attached at the same time so that both-clamps upon opposite sides of the inachine may be operated simi'iltaneouslv. The movable jaws 7 upon the same side of the machine are mounted upopgauixid 16 which is common to all the clamps upon one side. This rod passes through bearings 17 secured in any manner to the frame, a pair of such bearings being provided for each of thc movable jaws and located upon opposite sides thereof to hold tli'e movable jaws in a given position with reference to the fixed jaws. f Y
The presser piece 18 is oblong and formed in its sides with a plurality of longitudinal grooves 19 which constitute seats to receive the work. This presser piece is formed with a plurality of faces and each of the faces has a groove 19 therein. The presser piece 1S may be adjusted to bring any one of its faces in position to Acoperate with a form so as to bend the material therearound. An operating lever 2O has one end bifurcated to embrace the upper and lower sides of the frame to which it is pivotally connected yby means of a bolt or pin 21. Links22 and 23 connect opposite ends of the presser piece 19 to. the lever 20 and an auxiliary lever 24, the latter being pivotally connected to the lever 20. The link 22 and auxiliary lever are adapted to be adjustably `connected with the lever 20, thereby making provision" for proper adjustment of the presser piece to suit the work and the selected form. kA Fearing 25 carried by the lever 24 is adapted engage a side of the presser piece 18 to properly adjust the saine with reference to the work. The bearing 25 has the end adapted to engage the presser piece 18 made round and such bearing is preferably formed' separate from the lever 24 and attached thereto although such arrangement is not essential. Tligalevers 20 and 24, to` vgether with the presser piece 18,'bearing 25 end of the link 9 and links 22 and 23, constitute the shaping l i 'means of a curved bur 26 which may be attaelied to the frame in any manner.'
In the modification shown in Fig. 5 the form 27 has its active portion curved but such form is not necessarily circular. The form may be attached to plates 28 which in turn are-adapted to be securedY to the 'frame of the machine in any manner. i Ali,
