ments in shelves and particularly to improvements in shelves adapted for use in ovens.

One object of this invention 1s to so construct a shelf-that it may be readily adjusted relative to itswidth and that at any width, within its limits of adjustability, its load carrying member may easily be drawn out with its load whereby inspection of and access tosaid load are facilitated.

Another object of the invention is to provide a shelf having a novel slidable load carrier or member.

Other objects of the invention willappear from the following descr'ption.

The invention consist in the novel construction of the adjustable load carrying member and its frame.

The invention also consists in such other novel features of construction and combination of parts as shall vhereinafter be more fully described and pointed out in the claims. v j

As shown in the drawings in its preferred form the improved shelf comprises a main frame having the ways or tracksf, 5 bent at their rear ends to furnish the overlapping arms 6, 6 which are slidably connected, for adjustment, by the guides 7, 7 Attached to the front ends of the ways or tracks 5, 5 are the members 8, 8 having the bent ends 9, 9 and the inwardly extending overlapping arms 10, 10 which latter are slidably connected by the guides 11, 11. At the rear portions of the ways or tracks 5, 5 are secured the members 12, 12 which correspond in some degree to the members 8, 8 in that these members l2, l2 have the outwardly bent ends 13, 13 and the feet 14, 14. These feet 14, 14 and thelguidesll, 11 support the main frame on the bottom of an oven O or on any plane surface as indicatedjat X in Fig. 3. The outwardly bent ends'9, 94 and 13, 13 respectively of the members 8, 8 and 12, 12 afford extensions to which are secured the strips or bars 15, 15 adapted to be received by brackets B, B at the sides of the oven O or byany other suitable sustaining devices. In order to prevent the tipping upward of the rear end of the main frame I prefer to provide one of the arms 6, 6 with the clip or clamp 16 to adjustably secure the rod 17 which latter may extend to the top of `the oven O as shown in Fig. 1.

The front members 8, 8 of the main frame are provided with the rotatable sheaves 18, 18 which sustain the riding side bars 19, 19 of the `shelf which side bars have the inwardly bent and overlapping arms 20, 20 slidably connected by the guides 21, 21, these rear portions of the side bars 19, 19 havingl the frames 22, 22 each furnished with a pair of rotatable sheaves 23, 24, between which the ways or tracks 5, 5 of the mainframe are engaged.

The front ends of the shelf side bars 19, 19 are connected by- members 25, 25 depending from said side bars and having the overlapping arms 26, 26 slidably connected by.

From the above description and by reference to the drawings it will be seen that the main frame is adjustable laterally to various sizes, in view of the pairs of slidable arms 6, 6 and 10, 10 and that, in such adjustment, as the shelf is engaged with the ways or tracks 5, 5 of said main frame by its sheaves 18, 18, 23, 23, and 24, 24, such adjustment of the main frame will e'ect the adjustment of the shelf; that is, the main frame and the shelf are both constituted by pairs of comico plemental members, the respective pairs being engaged. Thus the main frame and the shelf are both constituted by pairs of complemental membersconnected for lateral adjustment While the individual members of the frame and shelf are so engaged by said track and sheaves that the lateral adjust; ment of the main frame eects corresponding adjustment of the ,shelf and vice versa.

A shelf mechanism comprising a main frame, having pairs of ways, arms extending inward from said ways and slidably connected, grooved sheaves rotatably mounted relative to said ways, and a shelf constituted by a pair of adjustably connected members each of which has a track received in the related grooved shea-ve of said main frame,`

and a pair of grooved sheaves mounted on members of said shelf to receive the respective ways of said main frame whereby said main frame members and shelf members are positively engaged by said sheaves and each follows all adjusting movements of the other.
