of the ordinary construction and the lights are connected to a suitable power source and arecontrolled by a single switch or a plurality of inde endent switches. he mun-- her plate is t en attached to th 'reflectm' plate 1 and detached therefrom n such a position that the light given oil" by the center lamp bulb will e directed down against rthe face of the number plate thereby making the numbers thereon readily visible. It will also be apparent that the central light will shine through the lens 12 and the use of the ordinary type of tail lamp will be eliminated. When the operator is desirous of 15 making a turn either to the right or left the 'control switch for the ,signal is thrown to either position and it will be evident that the letters forming the words will 'appenr illuminated while the ground will remain dark. In this way it will be seen that the signal may readily be given and persons approaching the vehicle can easily determine in what direction the operator will travel.
While in the foregoing there has been shown and described the preferred embodiment of this invention, it is to bcunderstood. that such changes may be made in the com bination and arrangement of parts as Will fall. within the spirit and scope of the eppended claims.
What is claimed is 1. A direction. indicator comprising a re- Hector plate, reflectors formed in said plate, lump bulbs mounted in the reflectors, screw receiving barrels formed at opposite ends of the plate, frames attached to the barrels, screws extending into said barrels to support the frames, direction indicating panels carried by the frame, a central frame and a lens mounted directly over the central lamp and within the central frame to 'form the rear signal lamp of the vehicle on which the device is used.
2. A ('lirlwtion indicator comprising a re Hector plntc, reflectors formed in said plate, lamphulbs mounted in the reflector, barrels formed at opposite ends of the plate, frames attached to the barrels, screws at tnching the frames to the barrels, direction indicating panels carried by the frame, a
central 'l'rmnc connecting the first mentioned frame and a lens mounted directly over the control lamp and within the central frame, a flange extending below the body of the reflector plates and having slots, said flange being adapted to form an attaching means for the license plates of the vehicle.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two Witnesses JAMES FA REAR. Witnesses:
