- a gyroscopic steering mechanism the combination with; a gyroscope of unlocking means comp rising a bolt engaging the inner ring of the gyroscope, a spring pressing said bolt to the locked position, and unlocking means comprising a reciprocating slide moving parallel to the bolt and having an arm adapted to engage said bolt toward the end of its unlocking movement, and thereupon to withdraw it against the stress of its spring.
- locking means comprising a bolt engaging the gyroscope, said bolt havin tubular body and cut away. to form opposite shoulders, a guiding pin within the tubular bolt, and unlocking means comprising a slide movable parallel with the bolt and having an arm moving between said shoulders and engaging and guided by said pin.
- gyroscopic steering mechanism the combination with a gyroscope and spinningup mechanism, the latter comprising a slide adapted to execute an unlocking movement, and an arm projecting from said slide, locking means comprising a bolt engaging the gyroscope, a spring pressing said bolt to the locked position, a fixed pin guiding the movements of the bolt, the bolt having a notch exposing said pin, and said arm entering said notch and engaging said pin to be guided thereby.

It results that the unlocking of the gyroscope before the pinion g has ceased to impel the pinion f is prevented.
The invention is not limited to the particular structure 01' details shown which may be varied according to the skill and judgment of the designer and which will require variation to adapt the invention to other types of gyroscopie mechanism.
\Vhat I claim is 1. In a gyroscopic steering mechanism, the combination with; a gyroscope of unlocking means comp rising a bolt engaging the inner ring of the gyroscope, a spring pressing said bolt to the locked position, and unlocking means comprising a reciprocating slide moving parallel to the bolt and having an arm adapted to engage said bolt toward the end of its unlocking movement, and thereupon to withdraw it against the stress of its spring.
2. In a gyroseopie steering mechanism, the combination with the gyroscope and spinning-up mechanism therefor, of locking means comprising a bolt engaging the gyroscope, said bolt havin tubular body and cut away. to form opposite shoulders, a guiding pin within the tubular bolt, and unlocking means comprising a slide movable parallel with the bolt and having an arm moving between said shoulders and engaging and guided by said pin.
3. In gyroscopic steering mechanism, the combination with a gyroscope and spinningup mechanism, the latter comprising a slide adapted to execute an unlocking movement, and an arm projecting from said slide, locking means comprising a bolt engaging the gyroscope, a spring pressing said bolt to the locked position, a fixed pin guiding the movements of the bolt, the bolt having a notch exposing said pin, and said arm entering said notch and engaging said pin to be guided thereby.
In witness whereof I have hereunto signed my name in the presence of two subscribingv witnesses.
