To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, Josnrrr SACHS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Hartof electric appliances, being of particular advantage when incorporated in a cut-out.

The primary purpose of the invention is the provision of compact means by which a wire or equivalent can be clamped in a solid and substantial manner to the'clip.

In the drawings accompanying and forming part of the present specification I have shown in detail one form of embodiment of the invention which will be set forth fully in the following description. I do not limit myself to this disclosure; I may depart therefrom in several respects within the scope of the invention defined. by the claims following said description.

Referring to said drawings: Figure 1 is a top plan view of a cut-out furnished with clips embodying the invention, the fuse of the cut-out being omitted. Fig. 2 is a side elevation partly in longitudinal section of said cut-out and clips. Fig. 3 is an end view of the same, the fuse being illustrated in position. Figs. l and 5 are sections on the lines H and 5-5 respectively of Figs. 1 and 2, looking in the direction of the arrows.

As intimated the improved clip is susceptible of general use. In the drawings I have shown a fuse cut-out, and'this particular appliance is equipped with two of such clips adapted to receive a fuse, each clip as will be clear being furnished-with wire connecting means. The cut out comprises a base as Z'and duplicate clips as 3 fastened to the base 2 in some convenient way, one of which will be hereinafter more particularly described. It is usual to form the base or block 2 of insulating material; it may for instance consist of porcelain.

In conjunction with a suitable clip such as one of those denoted by 3, I provide wire connecting means, the wire connecting means being within the clip by which compactness is insured. When I say fwithin,

It will be clear that while'the washer rises or low ers with the turning of the screw, the latter turns loosely in the washer. As will be apparent the washer is susceptible of movement transversely of the clip 3 and there is an advantage in this, in that said washer can be brought into clamping relation with the wire irrespective of its size (within limits),'

and irregularities therein, the washer owing to the movement in question automatically adapting itself to the form of the wire while the screw 13 is being set. The operative end of the clamping member or washer 14 has on its inner side the seat or groove 16 complemental to the seat or groove 8.

From what has been noted the manner of connecting a wire will probably be readily understood, but I deem it desirable to briefly set forth the same. Initially the screw 13 and washer 14' will be in the retracted positions thereof, for instance as shown in Fig. 4. It will be remembered-that the clip has a wire seat 8 extending longitudinally at one side thereof as shown. The formation of this wire channel or groove-it will be ob the clip and this rojection performs an important'function sing adapted to fit within acavity or opening in a block or the like and thusefiectually prevent the clip from turning.

What I claim is: I
